As we’re still not sold on the Ducati Multistrada 1200 all-things-to-all-people, we thought we’d take a closer look at the Multistrada test our colleagues at Motoblog.it had the opportunity to do. First up, the look of the bike is not to everyone’s taste, although perhaps necessary for the kind of bike it is. While hardly a masterpiece in sexy, superbike design, the Multistrada does give off a functional, practical air.
In an interesting comparison with the Ducati Hypermotard, the Multistrada is revealed as being more versatile, something we would expect, but also more powerful without gaining too much weight. It’s a fun bike, both in touring and sports style on the road, cornering well and with a traction control that’s not invasive. Further on the technological front, the ABS is very well managed, and overall electronic issues weren’t a problem.
The great thing about the Multistrada is that the four modes are really very different, so that you haven’t just bought a bike with a fancy switch that actually doesn’t do very much. Two out of the four modes have 50 hp less, which you can really feel, although the traction control is less noticeable - you would need a separate day to play around with that to fully understand its influence on the bike.

I actually had a friend who completed the Budapest-Bamako rally this year, but I haven’t asked him yet how it went for him (he did it with four wheels and not two, though). The rally is a bit like the “poor man’s rally”, unlike the more professional Dakar, although it still takes place in the historic homeland of rallies: Africa. The guy in the video above is very well equipped, and we get to see some of the beautiful landscape. Enjoy other videos after the jump.
The 2010 Yamaha Super Ténéré is gradually being rolled out across Europe, with presentations taking place in Paris, Germany and Istanbul. We’ll be bringing you more pics next week, but in the meantime see the live Super Ténéré Paris presentation gallery, and a couple of videos after the jump of its appearance at its various debuts.
The XT1200Z Super Ténéré will have a price tag in Europe of about 15,300 euros for the “First Edition”, which is a limited edition version that comes with an adventure pack. It will be available for a year from launch, after which the bike will be sold with the adventure kit as a separate accessory. For more details on the bike, see our 2010 Yamaha Super Ténéré pics and details post.

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 has still yet to earn its stripes, but these official Multistrada launch pics and video (after the jump) from the presentation have enough sex appeal to make us consider the new Ducati in a positive light. We already know most of what there is to know about the four-bikes-in-one Multistrada, but as test ride results start to be published, a pattern is emerging that this is not a bike to underestimate. We’ll be bringing you more details later of Multistrada tests, with live pics and videos, but in the meantime enjoy these evocative images from the official gallery.
Here’s the first video of the 2010 Yamaha Super Ténéré, where we get all the technical details as to why this is all about off-road motorcycling. In short, the 2010 Super Ténéré has a twin cylinder engine with uneven firing intervals, 270-degree crank, traction control, ABS and unified braking system, and the Yamaha D-Mode riding system.
The four-stroke, inline 2-cylinder engine with four valves produces about 110 hp and 114 Nm of torque. Wet weight (with full oil and fuel tank) measures 261 kg. The D-Mode riding system has a choice of two settings: sport and touring, while the traction system has three modes. The first edition 2010 models complete with adventure kit can be ordered from March 8, while for 2011 that package will then become optional. The 2010 Yamaha XT1200Z Super Ténéré: Go Beyond
Yamaha is proud to announce an all-new model for 2010: the XT1200Z Super Ténéré. This project began with a clean sheet and a clear vision – to create the most advanced adventure travel machine, a motorcycle tailor-made for transcontinental expeditions, offering comfort, reliability, exhilaration and effortless progress over every conceivable terrain.
From the beginning, the Super Ténéré design team had the following targets in mind:
* An all-new, shaft-driven large displacement engine with the torque to deliver emphatic drive throughout the rev range and a dynamic character suited to a wide range of conditions;
* Light and agile handling, with perfect balance at low speeds and quick, precise steering on twisty mountain roads;
* High levels of comfort, weather protection and practicality to accommodate long-haul travel with passengers and luggage; and
* Intelligent use of rider assist technology to improve safety, versatility and rider confidence in all situations – but without taking full control away from experienced riders.
Here’s a look at the 2010 Beta RR 50 motard and enduro models, with the standard versions already available on the market. There will be two versions available - standard and racing - with the Enduro model coming with 21-inch or 18-inch tread tyres, and the motard available with 17-inch road tyres.
The Beta RR Enduro 50 has a new look which is now more similar to the rest of the Beta RR family. Some technical aspects has been updated, including a front pump brake and greater steering angle for more stability. The RR Enduro Standard costs 2,490 euros, while the RR Enduro Racing costs 2,950 euros.
The Beta RR Motard 50 has the same modifications as the enduro model, and now includes a digital multifunction instrument panel and improved electronics for better use from the lights. The standard version costs 2,690 euros and the racing model costs another 200 euros.
Following the Ducati tradition, the newest and hottest member of the Italian marque’s family, the four-in-one Multistrada 1200 received it’s official christening with the mandatory bottle of bubbly, when the first MTS in white, rolled off the floor in Borgo Panigale, in the presence of Claudio Domenicali, Gabriele Del Torchio and Silvano Fini.

The Yamaha YZ450F and Yamaha YZ250F from the Monster Energy Motocross 2010 team have been revealed, showing the bikes and the livery that riders David Philippaerts, Gautier Paulin, Ken De Dycker, Loic Larrieu and Alessandro Lupino will use. The team has a couple of successful riders with 2008 world champion Philippaerts and 19-year-old Paulin last year gaining third in MX-2.
There is also the fortunate acquisition of Ken De Dycker in his first appearance for Yamaha in MX-1 after last year’s hard fought season, and Larrieu will hope to complete a good year after injuries last season. The Motocross season official kicks off at Sevlievo in Bulgaria in two months’ time, and the new Yamahas are looking awfully good in that livery.
