A vintage Max Factor lipstick commercial that shows that back in 1978 women could ride bikes wearing wearing full make-up without it running and could they take off their lids and not have helmet hair.
I don’t know about you other ladies, but when I take off my full face helmet after a long ride I look like something that the cat dragged in.

Titillation aside (no pun intended), this is actually a very serious piece of equipment and I can only imagine that many a girl will thank Dainese for it. These chest protectors for women are designed to be worn either alone, or connected to a Dainese back protector, and can be worn under most leathers and female motorcyclist gear. The Dainese Thorax Pro Lady and Thorax Lady have flexible side plates, adjustable straps, double jersey liner and polyethylene foam padding. Get your man to get you one now! See more at Dainese.com.

In some weird statistics on motorcycling in the Netherlands, we find that the Dutch have about 650,000 motorcycles registered in their country, apparently doing 18.1 billion kilometres a year. In good news for the girls, a third of Dutch motorcycle licenses are held by women, up from a quarter about ten years ago.
But the most astonishing statistic is that in a country of just 16 million people, there are a total of 18 million bicycles. Now there I would really like to see the total number of kilometres clocked by bicycles. I know there are a lot, but seriously - two million more than the number of people?!

Another 2010 scooter offering is the Peugeot Tweet model. Offered in three versions: 50 cc, 125 cc and 150 cc, it is young and modern looking scooter, specifically aimed at women for easy city riding. The Peugeot Tweet models are based on the Sym Symphony technical platform, but have different design.
The Tweet models are another high wheel offering on the market, with 16-inch wheels, front telescopic and twin shock absorbers at the rear (single shock absorbers appear on the 50cc). All models have a front brake disc measuring 226 m, while the 50 cc model has a rear drum brake. For a rough idea of weight, the 125 cc model tips the scales at 109 kg.
While I love a retro look on a scooter, the modern style of Tweet has been designed well, with chrome features, and slender, elegant look. Quality finishes are guaranteed with double stitching around the seat, spacious under-seat storage, flat foot area and large square headlight with v-shaped Peugeot badge and indicator lights.

Over the next week or so, we’ll be bringing you a scooter a day, with the 2010 scooter models available kicking off today with the lovely Piaggio Liberty and Liberty “Elle”. Future model profiles will include scooters from Aprilia, Peugeot, Kymco and more. The Liberty is a successful lightweight, high-wheel scooter for Piaggio, maintaining its 2009 looks and technology, and is available in 50cc, 125cc and 150 cc four-stroke versions. There is also a 50cc two-stroke available.
The Liberty “Elle” 2010 version is designed specifically for women, with a lower seat height of 765 mm for the 50cc, and 775 mm for the 125 cc, which is 20 mm lower than the standard versions. The Liberty Elle comes in pink colour, with a dedicated top case and “Elle” branded helmet.
The Piaggio Liberty has a tubular steel frame, and ten spoke alloy wheels measuring 16 inches at the front and 14 inches at the rear. They are shod with 90/80 and 110/80 tyres. The rear has a 140 mm drum brake and the front has a 240 mm front disc with a double piston calliper.
The Liberty engine range includes the powerful 125 and 150 cc versions with seven litre fuel tank, while the smaller 50cc versions are great for city riding for younger and female users, with the choice of either a two-stroke or four-stroke. See after the jump for more Liberty pics and technical specs.
