Husqvarna 2010 range

Husqvarna 2010 range

Husqvarna at EICMA 2009 has an impressive line-up, at the top of which is expected the new best-seller, the Husqvarna SM630. The urban motard is joined by the enduro, racing and supermotard range, with the latter including the new 450 and 510 models: racing replica for the brand.

The SM630 should follow the fortunes of the SM610, and become a benchmark in the urban motard segment, with modifications that reduce weight and increase performance and handling. The fuel injection is helped by a throttle valve measuring 45 mm, which also reduces fuel consumption.

The dual-purpose TE630 is also a new model for 2010, equipped with a 600cc engine and DOHC which contribute to a 20-percent increase in power compared to the TE610. Smaller models have also been updated, including the SM and WRE 125, and competition models are included, showcasing the CR 400 of Steve McQueen fame. Video: Robbie Williams rides Husqvarna in Bodies music clip

posted by Alison in: Personalities Video Husqvarna

Robbie Williams rides a Husqvarna in this video clip of his single “Bodies”. It’s an older-style Husqvarna similar to Steve McQueen’s but apparently the latter’s wasn’t available for filming. Robbie lives out the dream of many offroaders in a desert jaunt, but we’re not sure where this was filmed. The vehicles get bigger as the video goes on, but we can enjoy the two-wheels of the first part.

New Husqvarna headquarters opens

posted by Alison in: News Enduro Offroad Husqvarna

New Husqvarna headquarters

Husqvarna has a new headquarters opened in Varese, in a large building three stories high. It will include offices, a testing centre for new bikes and an area for the production of new prototypes and racing bikes.

The structure also houses the Husqvarna development team, a presentation centre and a showroom at the front. A small space has been dedicated to top models and photographs from Husqvarna history.

Incredibly, the facilities could stretch to producing 40,000 bikes a year, with Husqvarna building the site with long-term plans for future growth in place. It’s even environmentally friendly, using solar panels and generating energy for its own hot water. Something to check out when next you’re in Varese, Italy.

Husqvarna off road 2010

Husqvarna has gotten in before its competitors, releasing details of the 2010 Husqvarna enduro and motocross range. Plenty of new improvements are on the way, including lighter models, greater performance and new mechanics.

The overall style of the Husqvarna off-road models will also change, with new graphics, and more robust plastic finishes. The 2010 range will have 48mm Kayaba forks and the TE and TC will have shorter forks for greater handling. They will also feature a new rear wheel disc brake. The WR-CR 125 will have a new Sachs single shock absorber.

Husqvarna features numerous off-road models and 2010 sees seven enduro models and three motocross models available. These include the new TE 250 with four stroke, direct injection motor, which has been successful for Antoine Meo in the world enduro championships.

Motorbikes and Beef?

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has announced that it will be opposing a plan by U.S trade officials that could double the cost of some European motorcycles imported into the United States.

It would impose a 100 percent import duty on more than 100 European goods, including motorcycles with engines sized between 51cc and 500cc, hitting such companies as Aprilia, Beta, BMW, Fantic, Gas Gas, Husaberg, Husqvarna, KTM, Montesa, Piaggio, Scorpa, Sherco, TM and Vespa.

Designed in retaliation to European Union’s 20-year-old import ban on American beef infused with steroids and hormones, despite a World Trade Organization order to end it. The United States wants to impose $116.8 million in import duties to equal the amount of money it claims the U.S. beef industry loses each year because of the ban.

Eicma 2008: Husqvarna TC 250, SM 450RR and SM 530RR

The Husqvarna stand at the Eicma show was, as per tradition, full of novelties, new tunings and models to be had. One such presentation was the Concept SMQ, before closing with 2009 models: the new cross TC 250 and the Motard SM450RR, and the 530RR.

We’ll take a look at the new motards later, but in the meantime the smaller cross created much interest among Eicma visitors, who were keen to get a glimpse before the model enters a long period of tests prior to its appearance on the market.

The new 250 from Husqvarna will likely experience the same success as the previous models, with high quality technology and an incredible dry weight of 92 kg. The engine is a single-cylinder, liquid cooled four-stroke, with four radial valves, bore and stroke at 79 by 50.9, and a 249.5cc engine that weighs only 22kg.

Eicma 2008: Husqvarna SMQ concept

posted by Alison in: Offroad Meets/Events Husqvarna

Concept Husqvarna SMQ - Eicma 2008

The idea behind the SMQ project is to give life to a new generation of motorcycles, as seen at the Eicma show in the presentation of a new Husqvarna prototype.

This exciting and easy to ride model gives great handling and manoeuvrability, and is incredibly light. This means a lot more fun. The SMQ also has a lower saddle, compact form and better power-weight ratio.

Characterised by typical Husqvarna rigorous design, the SMQ presents a mix of vintage style with modern technology. In the gallery you can see both our shots from Eicma, and the official Husqvarna photos.

Husqvarna SM450R 2009 at Intermot show

SM450R 2009

We close off some of our final news from the Intermot show 2008, including this look at the new Husqvarna SM 450 R - and you can’t help but love it. This is a motard for passionate fans, with a beautiful look that’s nasty and says she’s ready for racing.

The plastic covering has a lovely form, along with some great colouring and a “factory” charm. The important news is all in the chassis, with improved rigidity, while also weighing one kilo less. No excesses have been taken, just a few improvements on what was already an impressive little machine.

The 450cc engine has been kept and the exhaust valves are in stainless steel. Some changes have been made to the transmission, for faster gear change and the bike is now available with fuel injection. The thing that I love most are the wheels, which are from Excel and are now available in black, and the digital display also gives a touch of style.

Husqvarna TC250 gem

posted by koen in: Offroad Husqvarna

This is the lightest single-cylinder engine bike and it’s called TC250.

The Husqvarna TC 250 is built with an engine produced in the Husqvarna factory close to the Italian Varese Lake. The four-stroke 250cc engine, weighs only 22 kg and is built with titanium radial valves. The dry weight is only 92 kg and gives an amazing manoeuvrability when riding this single-cylinder bike.

The TC250 is a real “made in Italy” jewel and will be built in a limited number by the end of 2008. Husqvarna is also considering the option to use the bike during the MX2 Motocross World Championship in 2009. So it’s possible the limited edition won’t be so limited. Let’s hope so!
