The Motodays show in Rome was officially opened yesterday by two times World Superbike champion James Toseland and Italian actress Martina Stella (longtime Valentino Rossi fans will certainly remember her) and the above video won first prize as the best original video to showcase the event that has more than 260 exhibitors.
If you’re going to Paris anytime between now and the 8th of August why not take in Dainese’s A toute épreuve exhibition that’s being held at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie.
Dainese presents the history of protection from its origins to the current most innovative technologies and a look into the future.
The exhibit traces a correspondence between Nature and the first protective armors; from the armadillo’s carpace to suits of armors to a gallery leathers which have protected some of the greatest motorcycling champions of all time.
There’s also a short film by Italian director Ermanno Olmi entitled “La Vestizione Dell’Eroe” (dressing a hero), which describes the ritual of preparation of the knights of long ago through images of dressing before a race of Valentino Rossi, a modern knight preparing to face “battle”.
Another part of the exhibition is dedicated to innovative and technological development of technical sports clothing, including the D-Air leathers that several GP riders are now using and have already shown to save riders from serious injuries.
If you can’t be in Paris, here’s a video mini tour of the exhibition.

Stunt rider Chris Pfeiffer is heading on a world tour with Red Bull and the first stop was the city of Colombo in Sri Lanka, where he delighted the crowds with burn outs, wheelies and stoppies.
We all know Pfeiffer is simply awesome performing motorcycle stunts on a F800 R, but check out how he also wowed fans by using a simple bicycle backwards up.

Open class racing in six different countries and supported by Ducati Europe, the Dutch Ducati Dealer Cup or 3D Cup for Ducati riders only, will be entering it’s fifth year of competition.
Last year saw three female riders take up the challenge and thanks to their satifactory results, another two have decided to try test their talents in the 2010 3D Cup. Five female riders will be on the starting grid: Bernice Sangers, Ilja Pokorny, Sjimmy Bruininkx, Peggy Appelmans who are all going to try to beat each other and their male counterparts in the tough business of racing.
You can keep up on the progress and results of these fantastic riders at DutchDucatiWomen.
MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi has been nominated again, and for the fifth time, and is on the short list for the coveted Sportsman of the Year by Laureus World Sports Award.
The 2010 Laureus World Sports Awards, which will be televised live from Abu Dhabi on March 10 will see the 9 times Gran Prix World Champion up against very stiff competition including the last year’s winner Laureus winner Usain Bolt, four-time winner Roger Federer which have both been nominated again, along with footballer Lionel Messi, long distance runner Kenenisa Bekele, Tour de France winner Alberto Contador.
The awards are decided by a jury of 46 of the greatest sportsmen and women of all time, from a shortlist put together by a panel of journalists from around the world.
Rossi so far has won the Laureus Spirit of Sport Award back in 2006.
Remember the Dainese Legendary Tour? You had to buy € 250 worth of Dainese and/or AGV products and you could win a trip to Italy to tour the Italian Dolomite Mountains with Marco Lucchinelli, Max Biaggi and Giacomo Agostini.
Dainese has put online this highlight video of the 2009 tour, so we can turn green with envy about what we missed out on; magnificent motorcycles, legendary riding companions, breathtaking scenery (except for snow in September) great Italian food, heady wine, what more can anyone ask for.

India celebrated it’s Republic Day last week and during the annual parade that’s held in New Delhi and one of the displays was done by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers who performed several motorcycle stunts.
The above video is a rehearsal, but you can check out the colorful parade on the Times of India website, just click here.

The official 2010 Fiat Yamaha Team launch will take place at the Sepang circuit on February 4th at 10 in the morning (local time) before the official MotoGP tests that kick off on the same day.
It will be an old style presentation directly from the track, completely different compared to last year’s very successful on-line presentation with double interviews that were done at Yamaha headquarters at Gerno di Lesmo.
There’ll be the usual photos of the M1 with it’s 2010 livery, a press conference with the first impressions of the new bike by Yamaha riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo and interviews with team managers Davide Brivio and Wico Zeelenberg, who replaced Daniele Romagnoli and Yamaha’s head honcho Lin Jarvis.
Everyone would like to go down in history and have their fifteen minutes of fame and end up on TV and on YouTube. So check out this video from the show Record Breakers where a rider with 12 other people hanging on, attempts to pop a wheelie.
The wheelie lasts about a nano second, but they say it’s a World Record, so kudos to them, but we prefer the guy who makes a pizza while riding a motorcyle as an unusual stunt.

Ewan McGregor gets to narrate, and the above trailer promises a fabulous movie. We get some high speed, on-board racing (Oh my God!!), the story of MotoCzysz and a great quote from Valentino Rossi: “There’s just one gear?” Check it out in the video trailer.
