In the wake of its recent unveiling at the 2011 EICMA, Yamaha releases a massive photo gallery of the new T-Max, one of the undisputed stars at the recent Italian event. The model firstly debuted in 2001 and is now at its third generation, sporting its most aggressive look to date.
Making it lighter was probably what Yamaha engineers had in mind since the word go. The new T-Max is powered by a 530 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke, 4-valve engine built with many light components and delivering 45.8 hp (34.2 kW) at 6,750 rpm and 52.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,250 rpm. Its die-cast aluminum frame is also significantly lighter than the current one, and is connected to a motorcycle-style telescopic fork on the front and to a strong rear shock at the back.
It is easy to tell that a lot of work has been put into the new aesthetics, which give the T-Max its most aggressive look ever as well as a bodywork offering great weather protection. The model retains its signature double head light (although slightly revised) and sports new LED technology on its tail, while the instrument panel with its two distinctive polygon-shaped analogue counters is also new. As previously reported, BMW Motorrad unveiled at the 2011 EICMA its two new maxi-scooters, the C600 Sport and the C650 GT, which have been developed on the same platform. In fact, both models are equipped with the same 649cc 2-cylinder DOHC engine (delivering 60 hp), use the same chassis and roll on 15″ wheels fitted with quite wide tyres.
The C600 Sport is slightly more sporty and aggressive-looking, with a large, variable storage component (Flex Case) that sets new standards in terms of practicality and functionality, and an adjustable windshield. The C650 seems to be more sober and quiet, but it boasts a host of innovations such as the LED daytime running light, parking brake integrated into the side stand, electrically adjustable windshield and the central locking system.
Both models - as usual with BMW Motorrad - are bound to set new standards for urban mobility in their respective categories, both technically and commercially. BMW has released official technical specs and a massive photo gallery portraying the two newborn maxi scoots together, check them out by clicking on the ‘Continue Reading’ link below.

Italian manufacturer Italjet introduced at the EICMA the revamped versions of two historic models that will soon make their comeback on the market: Velocifero and Dragster. The Dragster made a name for itself back in the day thanks to its aggressive look that immediately set it apart from the other scooters around. The new version boasts several aesthetic modifications and will be initially available with a 50 cc engine (that was exposed in Milan) while a 125 cc variation equipped with Piaggio Leader engine will join in at a later time. The model will come with an unusual set of wheels: 11″ on the front and 12″ on the back.
The new Velocifero instead will be an all-electric motorcycle and will come with consistently different aesthetics. The restyling involved many areas - for instance, its signature double head lights have been replaced with a single unit - but it was just necessary in order to host the batteries and the new powertrain. The model will also use aluminum rims, front and rear disc brakes, and double spring at the back. As for now, there are no specific information about its power source.
Italjet also announced that it will soon enter the off-road market too with Enduro and Supermotard models equipped with 50 cc and 125 cc units, which should become available in the showrooms in March. Check them all out in our photo gallery.

Taiwanese manufacturer Sym presented its range of products for the year 2012 at the 2011 EICMA, featuring two new motorcycles: Maxsym 600i and the renewed Joymax 300i. Beside that, the whole range has been upgraded: for instance, the Maxsym 400i is now equipped with ABS-STCS.
Sym Maxsym 600i is basically a bigger version of the 400i, with bigger engine and standard ABS. Aesthetically it is just like the its little sister, and maintains all of the key features of the model: comfortable riding position (thanks to the huge saddle), huge loading capacity, sharp dual projection headlights, telescopic fork, great aerodynamic protection (thanks to the big windscreen) and 15″ front 14″ rear wheels fitted with 120/70 and 160/60 tyres respectively.
Sym Joymax 300i uses a new styling that provides the model with a more modern look, but it retains those features that made it a perfect vehicle for in-town traffic. Also at the EICMA there were the small electric scooters called ‘e-Virid’ and ‘Symmetry’, that got introduced in Milan last year and will enter into production, in 2012.

Alongside with Vespa, Lambretta is the most famous scooter brand in the world. The company begun producing its signature scooter model back in 1947, becoming an icon of the 50s and 60s in Italy and abroad. Lambretta LN125 uses a single cylinder air-cooled 2-valves 124.6 cc engine - producing 8.7 hp at 8,000 rpm and 8.2 Nm (6.1 lb/ft) at 6,500 rpm - and a 6-speed wet multi-plate clutch automatic transmission made by Sym in Taiwan. it also uses a cast aluminum twin spar chassis, telescopic fork with 190 mm discs on the front, single spring with drum brake on the rear and a 6-litre capacity fuel tank which provides a range of about 145 km. Piaggio Group confirmed in a statement that Italian Police force ‘Guardia di Finanza’ seized a three wheels scooter called YB 250 ZKT produced and marketed by Chinese company Kaitong Motor through its subsidiary Yiben. The Police carried out the operation at Yiben’s stand at the 2011 EICMA.
Guardia di Finanza says that the aforementioned model appears to be a little too similar to Piaggio ‘MP3′, whose design and production rights are obviously owned by the Italian group. Thereby, the model has been distrained over allegations of falsification and copyright infringment. Here are the pictures, you can see that for yourself.
LML presents at the 2011 EICMA its new Star Light range. The Vespa-inspired scooters from the small Italian manufacturer come equipped with 50cc and 125 cc four stroke units, manual 4 speed gearbox, variator and V-belt, with electric and kick start. The frame is made of welded steel pipes that goes to integrate the sheet metal body configuration.
LML also brought two concept bikes at the Milan event: Star Disegual e la Star Sidecar. The Star Disagual looks like it has been taken away from some Mad Max movie while the Star Sidecar - you guessed it - comes with a nice color-matched sidecar that also uses a big head lamp on the front. LML took plenty of models at the EICMA to show off many different kinds of livery, color scheme, finishing and so on, check them all out in our huge photo gallery.
