The Ossa TR280i, which we saw as a trial prototype at the 2009 EICMA show, has gone into production and will be going on sale from August this year. Ossa will produce 1,250 TR280i units this year, available in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, while plans are to increase production to about 3,000 units in 2011.
A new off-road Ossa bike will also be on show at the 2010 EICMA show in Milan. The TR280i has a 280cc, two stroke engine with electronic ignition. Other features include a monobloc carter and innovative cooling system, which in theory allow for easy engine modifications to be performed. See what you think in the pics, and for more details, see the Ossa website.

Julien Dupont, our favorite urban freestyler, has started the new year with another wild escapade in Mexico City to add to his collection of Ride the World videos.
Dupont decides to take on a Mexican traffic jam and here’s the results. Enjoy.
Totally illegal, but totally fascinating the skills that urban freestyler Julien Dupont shows in his latest escapade in Berlin. Dupont’s rebel cry is ‘Ride the World’ and as always he does just that.
The French rider hit Berlin to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the wall.

It isn’t always easy being a women who wants to ride motorcycles, even in open minded countries women on a motorcycles get the once over, but what happens if the country you live in prohibits you by law from obtaining a motorcyle licence or being allowed on the country’s main track only because you are female?
You turn to motocross and become that country’s first woman MX2 champion and that’s what 20 year old Nora Naraghi from Iran did.
On the last day of October, Nora and eight other women including her mother, Shahrzad Nazifi, competed in Iran’s only motocross race in the MX2 category, set up by Xanyar motorbike club. She beat her mother, who was stiff competition.
Nora’s mother, who is 38 years old and has biked for 22 years, said: “Of course she is younger and has more potential; she is also more technical than me and that is why she won.”

Julien Dupont did another of his illegal, but exciting Ride the World escapades. The French freestyler who invented this urban discipline loves to surprise and this time he chose a bridge on the A6 highway near Madrid.
This is the third time that Dupont has gone over a bridge beam, here he was using a TXT 300 Pro Gas Gas trials bike, the first time he did a bridge was in Lione, France and the second time was on the Efede bridge in Holland.
Here is the Ossa TR-i 280 prototype, which we first mentioned in October with news of the Ossa brand relaunch. The Spanish company was mostly active in the off-road and trial segments from the 1960’s to the 1980’s, and here is its TR280i trial model ready to roll off the production line before June next year.
The TR280i is a 280cc, two-stroke with electronic ignition, and a focus on weight distribution and correct engine cooling. The motor is compact, thanks to the monobloc carter, and the cooling unit is angled slightly backwards, using concepts from both enduro and trial models. Given this new placement and compactness, modifications to the motor can be achieved easily and economically. The fuel tank has a capacity of three litres and sits in front of the motor.
The radiator, however, is situated towards the back of the tank, and in front of the air box, which lowers the centre of gravity of the bike, but which also requires a fan cooling system as no air arrives from the front of the bike. For more details on the history of Ossa, and past models, see ossamoto.es. More official TR280i pics after the jump.

Spanish motorcycle brand Ossa is coming back, appearing at this year’s EICMA show with a niche range of trial motorcycles. Ossa originally made its name back in the 70’s with a range of enduro and trial bikes, and the occasional appearance in the road bike sector, too.
Ossa will present its first revolutionary prototype at EICMA, called the TR-i 280. We only have the name at this stage, and no pics, but they’ve certainly gained our attention and we’ll be interested to see what the bike is like.
The new Ossa prototype will also launch the brand back into the world of competition and should prove to be a highly innovative bike. We’ll be bringing you more details from EICMA.
Freestyle urban trial champion Julien Dupont rides the streetscapes of Lyon in this video from 2007. We don’t always like to harp on about safety but this is another of those “don’t try this in your town” videos.
