Officine Rossopuro turns Moto Guzzi Stelvio into "Motard One"

posted by Adrian in: Enduro Supermoto Tuning Moto Guzzi

We have never seen a customized Moto Guzzi Stelvio before, but Mr. Filippo Barbacane and the other people at Officine Rossopuro went a little further than that, transfroming the massive adventure tourer from the Italian manufacturer into this aggressive supermoto bike, renamed ‘Motard One‘. If we didn’t know, we surely wouldn’t have guessed it.

The Motard One is powered by the famous ‘Big Bore’, a 90° V-twin engine with two valves per cylinder whose displacement was brought up to 1420cc by Italian factory Millepercento. The engine now weights only 62kg, produces 140 hp and uses a new radiator and a new exhaust system hand-made by Officine Rossopuro’s main man Filippo Barbacane himself.

The bike braking system was upgraded using selected Brembo’s components, the fork is a brilliant 50mm Marzocchi, rims comes from Marchesini and on the rear it boasts Extreme Tech racing suspension. The whole rear end has been heavily modified and now featrues a small tail with beautiful hand-made finishing. Although it is hard to detect Stelvio’s somatic traits in the Motard One, we are sure that if such a model would be featured in Moto Guzzi’s official catalogue, many people would seriously consider buying one.

Shaw Speed & Custom presents the ‘Flatliner’

posted by Adrian in: Special Tuning Harley-Davidson

Shaw Speed Flatliner

When it comes to HD Heritage Softail motorcycles, Mr. Steve Willis surely knows what it is all about. Straight out of his Shaw Speed & Custom workshop near Brighton, UK, comes the Flatliner, which arises from the ashes of a ‘06 1450cc Heritage Softail that was gifted to him by a customer.

Mr.Willis’ goal was to preserve that 30s-40s feeling and providing it with a more modern touch by using “different materials and some anodizing“. After disassembling the whole machine, the engine was re-built using a 1550cc kit. RSD covers and yoke and silver anodizing were also used to give it an even more ‘vintage’ flavor. Rims are original Harley Davidson but come from different models, they were chosen because of the neat look but have been re-worked and given brass finishing. Besides, the colors of the Olympic flag can be spotted on the rear hub.

Quite impressive are the handmade rear mudguard and the leaf spring placed underneath the saddle, also handmade. The fuel tank was lifted from a 2011 Harley XL1200 and reworked to give it that sort of War World II look. Handelbar comes from SS&C and commands are provided by Performance Machine. The frontal number plate emphasizes the headlight while hiding the digital instrumentation, and the whole wiring was revised and made lighter.

Akrapovic exhausts 20th anniversary exhibition

Celebrating 20 years of business this year is Akrapovic exhausts and to mark the event they’re having an exhibition of some of their contributions to racing motorcycles over the years. The exhibition is in Slovenia and we could think of worse weekend trips than a motorcycle ride to Slovenia to check it out.

Motorcycles on display include Jorge Lorenzo’s Yamaha M1, Max Biaggi’s Aprilia RSV4, Marc Coma’s KTM Rallye 450, Ben Spies’ Yamaha R1 and Tony Cairoli’s KTM SXF350. The bikes are also matched with engine and technical exhibits and the chance to meet some of the Akrapovic technicians.

While Akrapovic is famous for its exhausts, the development behind the models is based on innovation in the use of titanium. The company has quite a record over recent years, having supplied parts to 57 World Champions, of which eight just in 2010. The Akrapovic exhibition is on at the Technical Museum of Slovenia, in Bistra near Ljubljana where Akrapovic is based. The exhibition runs until October 2nd.

New Arrow exhaust for the BMW S1000RR

posted by Alison in: Superbikes/Replica Tuning Bmw

Arrow exhaust for the BMW S1000RR

Unsurprisingly the BMW S1000RR has become one of the favourite models for aftermarket parts - making the bavarian superbike even sportier. This time we get a BMW S1000RR exhaust by Arrow, after SC-Project already released theirs. The S1000RR Arrow exhaust is a low-slung affair with a mounting bracket that has reduced the weight of the bike.

Arrow also claims the BMW S1000RR is now better to ride not only after the reduced weight, but also a more concentrated weight in the centre of the bike. The exhaust is made from titanium with carbonfibre components and has a removable db-killer. With the DB-Killer off the S1000RR still complies with international SBK rules.

This particular Arrow exhaust for the BMW S1000RR is a redesigned version of the previous one, with improved performance. The competition kit is available either in stainless steel or full titanium. You can expect to pay for the upgrade though, with the S1000RR Arrow exhaust costing from €1,090 for the stainless steel model, or €1,510 for the full titanium (taxes excluded).
