Stand Kawasaki Eicma 2010

Kawasaki has been generous to the crowds at the 2010 EICMA show, bringing its full range including the much anticipated new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Other models at the show are the Kawasaki Z1000 in its semi-faired SX version, the Z750R, the W800 and the Custom Voyager VN1700. The company has been having mixed fortunes of late but there’s something still irresistable in that shade of green. See the live EICMA pics below.

Piaggio Vespa PX 125 eicma 2010

The new Vespa PX is one hot little scooter which will bring back old-style scootering to those purists who still want to do stuff like change gears themselves. The immortal PX seen in these live pics from EICMA, will revive the classic two-stroke 125 and 150cc engines which might not sound like much to a modern luddite but this is about as romantic and nostalgic as you can get on nowadays scooters.

It’s the third time the Vespa PX will have appeared on the market and it will come with a four-speed gearbox with shift on the handle bar and will be available in Sport, Touring and ‘Via della moda’ options. The nifty thing is though, that despite it being a two-stroke, it still conforms to Euro 3 thanks to its new muffler.

For those looking for a fun scooter with all the style and status a Vespa gives, the PX is designed with you in mind. It’s lost on fancy technology to gain on traditional scootering fun. We get the feeling that anyone riding this will feel like they’re once again participating in a cool niche which harks back to 1960’s Dolce Vita style.

Live at EICMA: Ducati Diavel and the Ducati stand

Live at EICMA Ducati Diavel, Monster 1100 Evo, 848 Evo and 1198SP

I can’t decide if the Ducati Diavel looks as chunky in the flesh as in its studio pics or less so, but here are live pics from EICMA from the Ducati stand. We’ll have to wait until the best bike verdict from the 2010 EICMA emerges before we can gauge local reaction to the Diavel but a number of contrasting words come to mind: everything from abomination, innovation, anomaly and curiosity from Ducati. The Diavel is at the show with the old favourite, the Ducati Monster (1100 EVO), the Ducati 848 EVO and the new Ducati 1198SP which was first revealed at Intermot. The Diavel steals the show but more for the novelty factor than anything else.

Yamaha live pics from 2010 EICMA

Yamaha Live @ Eicma 2010

The Yamaha Super Ténéré is sporting a new black livery on the Yamaha stand live at the 2010 EICMA show and it’s an example of the natural evolution of some of the Yamaha bikes at the show, given that the company hasn’t brought anything revolutionary this year. The Yamaha EC-03 electric scooter is present, along with the Yamaha Worldcrosser concept we saw at Intermot.

There is a long list of four-cylinder models present with new ABS optional including: the FZ1, FZ1 Fazer, FZ8, Fazer 8, XJ6 Diversion and XJ6 Diversion F. We also get a glimpse at the Yamaha Sport and Touring accessories which will appear as a complete package across the Yamaha range from next year, meaning that customers should be able to save some money on purchasing single accessories.

The Yamaha Super Tenere 1200, for example, will be available from 2011 with Sport, Touring or Touring Plus packages which include various accessory kits. Yamaha claims the saving can be up to 20 percent compared with single accessory purchases. There are a few new colours in the range but the Yamaha R1 and R6 keep their classic Yamaha Blue. See more in the live pics below.

Hot on the heels of the mega gallery of the MV Agusta F3, here are live pics of the F3 from the 2010 EICMA show which started in Milan today. What’s there to say really? The pics come courtesy of Motoblog.it and show the F3 as a compact, dynamic, refined and utterly classy bike. We want one.

Ducati Diavel pics and details

2011 Ducati Diavel official pics

The Ducati Diavel will probably get a mixed reception as it’s unveiled at the 2010 EICMA show this week. A Ducati cruiser presented on home turf in Italy might not win the crowds and we’ve already had inklings that this will be a model to polerise more than a few. This is mostly though, because it’s an Italian cruiser - kind of the antithesis of what you’d expect from Italian motorcycle design - and not because Ducati has put together something ordinary.

The Diavel weighs just 210 kg and has 162 hp and 127 Nm of torque, meaning it’s Ducati’s take on what a cruiser is and could be. Design doubts aside, Ducati has equipped the Diavel will plenty of goodies including ride-by-wire technology, LED lights, tank-mounted instrumentation, Marzocchi forks and Brembo monoblock brakes. The mega rear wheel is almost offensive, but then this will be a bike for attention grabbers and Ducati has invested in some serious tyre technology, working with Pirelli to create a smooth centre surface for cruising and gripping sides for better cornering.

The Ducati cruiser will also be offered in a new Ducati Diavel Carbon version which drops weight further to 207 kg. Given concerns over cost of the standard Diavel, we reckong the carbon job will probably be prohibitive for most wanting one of these unless the baby boomers have got their savings set aside just for this. They will probably be the main market for the Diavel, with Ducati counting on its bulky style and cruising image to appeal, but we’ll be interested to see in the future how this model fares, particularly on the European market. See after the jump for more pics, the technical specs (standard version) and the official Diavel video.

2011 Triumph Speed Triple live presentation pics

These live pics of the 2011 Triumph Speed Triple come direct from the Facebook page of Triumph Italy where the new Speed Triple is undergoing a presentation. With the new bike being put through its test ride paces, we can enjoy these pics which show a very lovely interpretation of the original, round headlights or not.

We’ll have more on how the Speed Triple runs in the next few days and the main question for most at this stage is whether it’s on the hefty side. The 1050cc engine gets some extra power while the bike also gets a few kilos less. Many Triumph fans are still mulling over the change, but we’re happy to announce ourselves quite taken with the new style. Check it out in the gallery.

2011 KTM 1190 RC8 R Track, 990 SM-T and 125 Duke in pics

KTM 125 Duke, RC8R Track and 990 SM-T ABS 2011 Mega Gallery

In this huge gallery we finally bring you all the pics from KTM’s new models presented at the 2010 Intermot show in Cologne. The new kid (literally) on the block is the KTM 125 Duke, which most likely already has 16-year-olds around the world wanting one. Some families are going to be in for a tough Christmas wish list this year.

After the hype surrounding that model, the new KTM RC8 track bike with 180 hp was also shown. The KTM 1190 RC8 R Track is an impressive ready-to-race performance-oriented bike with 123 Nm of torque and (probably) a dry weight of less than the 182 kg of the road version. It’s the first KTM that can go straight from production line to track and is homologated to FIM Superstock regulations.

Not only that, the 1190 RC8 R Track is very sexy - it’s got lovely clean lines, and the white fairing is quite spectacular. The third model presented was the new KTM 990 SM-T with ABS. The other technical characteristics of 115 hp and 193 kg dry weight remain unchanged. Check out all three in the big gallery below.

2011 Nolan product launch

The 2011 Nolan helmet range has been presented with brand ambassadors Jorge Lorenzo, Carlos Checa and Marco Melandri all on board to enjoy the 2011 range launch. The new year sees some innovative and exciting helmet development from Nolan, including the new X-501 enduro helmet with hermetic visor and the X-402 GR jet helmet with removable chin protector.

The full helmet range will get new colours and graphics and will concentrate on various niche products from full face to jet helmets and more. Riders Lorenzo, Checa and Melandri joined representatives of the Italian police force (Nolan is the official supplier of many European police units) all with the message that racing is for the track only and showing that Nolan is at the forefront of motorcycle safety in its helmet range.

Motoblog.it was at the launch event, and had the opportunity to interview the riders and test the Nolan X-802 - the top-of-the-range racing helmet from the brand. This racing helmet has some of the best technology around with sophisticated ventilation and anti-fog systems, that is comfortable and quiet to wear. Nolan produces a Melandri and two Stoner replicas of this helmet which comes with a triple shell protection. We’ll be bringing you more from the 2011 Nolan range, but in the meantime enjoy this gallery of the launch event.

Kawasaki Z750R new pics

2011 Kawasaki Z750R all pics

Here’s a mega gallery of the new Kawasaki Z750R and it seems the company is counting on this being a popular model for it. We’ll get to see the bike first at the Intermot show from October 6 to 10, and then at the 2010 EICMA in Milan in November. Looking at these pictures, the new Z750R has a distinctive Kawasaki style but is almost Japanese-cartoonish in its aggressive and sporty lines.

Kawasaki might just be able to pull this off and for fans of the brand, it will probably work wonders. We haven’t got all the technical details yet but the elements borrowed from the Kawasaki Z1000 and new suspension and brakes lead us to believe it should be a different ride from the standard Z750 model. More to come from the upcoming shows.
