Stefan Bradl Laguna Seca 2012

After the French GP and during the Memorial day weekend, LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl packed his racing gear up and headed to Laguna Seca to spend an open track day learning the ins-and-outs of the twisty circuit that he’ll racing on for the first time during July’s Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.

The MotoGP rookie who has never seen circuit in person before rode a brand new 2012 CBR1000RR in HRC colors kindly provided by Honda America, since MotoGP rules forbid riders from testing their racebikes at circuits outside of the calendar.

“Moto2 and Moto3 don’t race at Mazda Raceway so we thought it was a good idea to have a first taste of this tight and twisty circuit. I just knew the track from PlayStation and we came to prepare for MotoGP, and I think we will be more ready for it. Thanks to Honda America I had the chance to ride this new CBR1000RR on the only track that I don’t know. It is downhill, and there are lots of blind corners. It is really fun. I especially like the banked corners. It is a big challenge to go fast especially from Turn 8 to Turn 11, but the whole circuit is tough. There is really no spot to rest or a long straight,” said Bradl.

Bradl then flew to Barcelona on Monday to take part in the Catalunya GP where he finished in 8th.

After the jump you’ll find a video where you can briefly see Bradl in action on the circuit that was filmed by one of the riders who was lucky enought to share the track with the German champion.
