CEO of Riders for Health, Andrea Coleman said: “Every donation we receive will help us to keep a health worker on the road. Very simply, this appeal will save lives. And by matching every donation, the government have helped to ensure that we can have a huge impact on people’s lives in Africa.”
Randy Mamola said ‘It is unacceptable that in the 21st century people who are sick can’t get the health care they need because health workers can’t reach them. Riders for Health is using the very thing that gives so many people so much joy, the motorcycle, to help health workers deliver lifesaving health care. That is why it is so important for everyone to support this appeal.’
Andrew Mitchell, Secretary of State for International Development, said, ‘By matching pound for pound all public donations, the UK Government will help Riders for Health double its impact in providing isolated rural communities with crucial health services. Riders for Health ensures that front line health workers in Africa can reach people in often remote and otherwise inaccessible areas. When equipped with a properly used and maintained motorcycle, a health worker can reach more than five times as many people.’
