After yesterday’s ponderous rain shower at the Sachsenring circuit, today’s Moto3 riders luckily found a dry track and the suprise of the morning was Redox-Ongetta-Centro Seta’s Jakub Kornfeil who was the fastest rider of the first session in a very tight timesheet.
The Czech rider lapped in 1’29″188 with his FTR Honda M312and he just 0.018s ahead of Hector Faubel, who is debuting the all red Mapfre livery on his Kalex-KTM after title sponsor Bankia’s pullout.
Third went to Luis Salom who was 0.064s from Kornfeil, followed by Monlau Competicion’s Miguel Oliveira, Alberto Moncayo and Maverick Vinales, who spent more time in his garage than on track after a big one-off at the Waterfall in the opening minutes. A surprising Danny Webb was 7th with the Mahindra MGP-3O and he was a little more than half a second off pace.
Closing out the top ten were the suprising and aggressive Niklas Ajo who had a few moments with another rider during practice, Alan Techer and Danny Kent (who took his first career podium at Assen last weekend), with fourteen riders in less than one second from Kornfeil.
