Honda’s CBR1000RR Fireblade was confirmed as the leader in its sector for 2008, both in terms of sales and performance. It’s lighter, more agile and faster than the competition, and can be adapted to both road and track riding.
For the 2009 version, Honda technicians have pushed for even greater tecnology, introducing some safety elements without compromising the Fireblade’s agression. Electric controlled combined ABS is the latest addition, and has really contributed to the dynamic capabilities of this bike.
While creating C-ABS on a bike with the performance of the Fireblade is an undoubtedly difficult task, Honda has managed this without betraying the sports soul of the bike, and keeping the weight increase relatively restricted.
Some 2009 Fireblade models will also have the rear tail cover included, which increases the bike’s racing image. The indicators are certainly an elegant feature, integrated in the rear vision mirrors, and contribute to the clean lines of the motorcycle.
The new colour available is opaque black, while the standard version (without ABS), is equipped with new calipers in black. The ABS version has coloured ‘racing’ calipers in Sherry Topaz Brown Metallic.
Two new colours have been developed to celebrate Honda’s 50 years (and its many victories) in world motorcycle racing, and show the extraordinary Fireblade tradition and its link to the RC212V. The first is the tri-colour HRC, in the same colours as the victory from Checa and Kiyonari in the “8 hours of Suzuka”, and the second is the official Repsol colours.
Aside from the Pearl Sunbeam White and the Repsol Replica, standard models will continue the four different colour schemes from 2008 (Graphite Black with Candy Glory Red, Pearl Sunbeam White with Graphite Black, Winning Red with Graphite Black and Graphite Black).
