In Race 2 in the second round of the WSBK in Losail, Ben Spies showed the WSBK world that he may be a rookie, but he is going to be the force to be rekoned with this year, when he completed the first lap in third place, jumped to second in the fourth lap and took the lead in lap 6, leaving Noriyuki Haga and Massimiliano Biaggi to battle for second place with Honda’s Ten Kate Ryuichi Kiyonari and Spies teammate Tom Sykes trying to catch the leading group.

Spies took off, lapping faster than any other rider also posting a lap record of 1′59.041 breaking Fonsi Nieto’s previous best . The race finished with exactly the same podium positions as Race 1.
