Tramonto ad Assekrem

If you love legendary motorcycle tours, check out Roberto Parodi’s tour of Africa on his own, with his inseparable Harley Davidson.

Parodi’s Transaharian itinerary took in the Sahara desert on a motorcycle, after crossing Tunisia and Algeria, before arriving in Tamanrasset, on the border of Niger. Other destinations in this incredible journey include Hoggar, and Assekrem, the 2,900 metre high mountain where Charles Foucault’s retreat can be found.

The various deserts, spaces and destinations have all been described as “worth it” by Parodi, who says he still hasn’t come to terms with what this trip has given him. After 5,400 km of sand dunes, desert scapes and Tuareg caravans, Parodi has arrived back in Italy.

The site has many photos and videos of this one-man African motorycle tour, and even if you don’t speak Italian, we recommend taking a look. After the jump is one video of riding through a sand storm. See the threepercenters site for more.
