2009 Finke Desert Race

The Finke Desert Race is a great desert race that takes place in Australia’s tough Northern Territory landscape. The race involves a cross country track from Alice Springs to Finke and back, with the bikes leaving at 11:30 am on Day 1, and due back in Alice at about 1 pm on Day 2.

This year’s race sees KTM take out first and second place with riders Ben Grabham and Brad Williscroft. It’s a hard ride of 226 km out to Finke one day, and 226 km back to Alice on the following. The KTM 505 XCF certainly handled itself well, with Ben Grabham finishing with an overall time of 4:01:26, and Williscroft coming in at 4:10:23.

For details and pics of the race, see the Finke Desert Race site.
