After a torrid 2012 season in World Superbikes (18th overall) Hiroshi Aoyama’s new start to the 2013 season begins with a fractured left wrist.
The Japanese rider who will be making his return to MotoGP with Avintia Blusen’s CRT team, injured himself while training with a motocross bike last Friday near Barcelona.
Following a consultation with Dr Xavier Mir at the USP Dexeus University Institute of Barcelona on Monday, where he underwent numerous tests, it was confirmed that he suffered a small fracture in his left wrist that will require a full week’s worth of full rest to heal.
Despite the setback, Aoyama will be able to attend the first official MotoGP™ test of 2013 to be held at the Sepang International Circuit from the 5th to the 7th of February.
Aoyama was the last 250cc World champion in 2009 before switching to MotoGP and rode Honda machinery for Interwetten and Gresini Racing in 2010 and 2011.
