Aprilia’s Max Biaggi took provisional pole at Brno with a last lap of 1.59.982 in the remaining seconds of the session and was the only rider to go under the two minute lap.

The Italian took the top spot from fellow Roman, Michel Fabrizio who was less than one tenth from the Roman Emperor. Third place to Carlos Checa on his Ten Kate Honda while Ben Spies was fourth quickest, on another learning curve was 0.576 from Biaggi.

Lorenzo Lanzi in fifth with his DFX Ducati and BMW’s Ruben Xaus sixth and Shinya Nakano on the second Aprilia was seventh and Troy Corser was eighth. Broc Parkes on Kawasaki 9th and top ten was closed by Yuki Kagayama, sole rider for Alstare Suzuki this weekend who also suffered a fall.

Points leader Noriyuki Haga finished in 15th returning to track after fracturing his scapula and wrist at the Donington round, but was only 5 tenths from Ben Spies time.

Shane Byrne was 11th, ahead of John Hopkins who suffered a fall during the session, but in the earlier practice was second.
Makoto Tamada, who also returned to track after his crash at Monza had the fourth best lap at the end of the session but the time was annulled because it occurred after the chequered flag and this dropped him to 17th.
