Michael Laverty’s debut in MotoGP during the first Sepang test raised plenty of eyebrows among the CRT riders, as he finished 15th overall using for the first time a full ART machine and never having never seen the Sepang track or used Bridgestone tires and carbon brakes before.
However, Laverty will not be riding an Aprilia ART this season, but a CRT Aprilia with a chassis designed by GPMS and with Magneti Marelli electronics.
The complete bike wasn’t ready for the first test, but it has been now completed and John Mowatt, Shane Byrnes’ crewchief tweeted this photo of the completed bike without the British Racing Green colours that will the Laverty’s livery for the 2013 season.
Laverty will now have to re-start the CRT learning process from scratch, but at least he’ll have some interesting comparisons to make between the two machines.
