Here are pics of the Suzuki GSX1250FA 2010 model year, built to be a very versatile bike for both weekend cruising and daily office-going. We like what we see with this very versatile model with a distinct sports style combined with comfortable and safe riding.
What’s more, the GSX1250FA is an attractive motorcycle built on classic lines. It has a tubular chassis, with a rake at 25.3 mm and trail at 104 mm to provide for stability and handling. For more details, see after the jump. We’ll be seeing it at the 2009 EICMA show, while Pricing is expected to be around 10,000 euros, and it should appear on the market in spring 2010.
Stylish full fairing
Featuring a distinctive sporty-style fairing, the GSX1250FA leads the way in styling, just as it leads the way in all-round sporty performance and unmatched value. The functional full fairing, housing vertically stacked multi-reflector halogen headlights and shaped to express a neat, well-integrated styling impression with the fuel tank and the tailsection, highlights the GSX1250FA’s all-round performance and user-friendly sporting comfort.
Torque, in quantity and quality
Powering the GSX1250FA’s “sporting comfort” performance is a 1255cm3 liquid-cooled fuel-injected DOHC engine delivering extra-smooth acceleration and a wide spread of power for relaxed highway cruising. With a full 1255cm3 of torque-producing displacement, the powerplant is tailored to wide-ranging sporty enjoyment, generating peak torque from relatively low in the rev range. The engine is also engineered for comfortable rides, maintaining smooth operation with an effective secondary balancer shaft. Suzuki’s own race-proven nickel-phosphorous-silicon-carbide plating - known as SCEM (Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material) - on the aluminum-alloy cylinder bores allows tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance for better oil control and sealing (for more power and less mechanical loss) and better cooling, compared to conventional cast-iron cylinder liners.
Sophisticated digital SDTV fuel injection
The GSX1250FA features state-of-the-art Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital closed-loop fuel injection for superb throttle response feel, extra-smooth power delivery, improved mileage and reduced emissions. Each 36mm throttle body contains a primary throttle valve - controlled by the rider with the throttle twist grip - and a secondary throttle valve controlled by the engine management computer, based on engine rpm, gear position and primary-valve position. The secondary valve opens and closes as needed to maintain ideal intake velocity, resulting in more linear throttle response, enhanced combustion efficiency and increased low-rpm torque.
Automatic Idle Speed Control (ISC) regulates the amount of air fed into the throttle body idle circuits to improve cold starting, reduce cold-start emissions and stabilize engine idle under varying conditions. The 31mm intake and 27mm exhaust valves (with 4.5mm valve stems for reduced airflow resistance) are both set at a narrow 16-degree angle in a compact, high-compression combustion chamber. Chrome-nitride coating, applied to each piston’s upper compression and oil control rings using a physical vapor deposition (PVD) vacuum chamber system, is harder and smoother than conventional chrome plating, resulting in reduced friction and tighter cylinder sealing. A liquid-cooled oil cooler helps keep the engine running cool. Power is transmitted through a 6-speed transmission using gear ratios chosen for impressive accelerations as well as smooth highway cruising.
Rider-friendly chassis
The GSX1250FA’s rider-friendly chassis is built around a classic tube frame featuring large diameter downtube, 25.3 degrees rake and 104mm trail, to maintain an excellent balance between sporty handling and comfort at highway cruising speeds. The 43mm-diameter stanchion-tube front forks’ damping performance is tuned to deliver smooth response over various pavement conditions likely encountered over the course of a touring ride. The front forks, and the single rear shock, both have spring-preload adjustability, to accommodate riding solo or carrying a passenger.
Disc brakes, with ABS*
The GSX1250FA is equipped with fully floating 310mm-diameter dual front brake discs with
4-piston calipers, and a 240mm-diameter rear disc brake with a single-piston caliper. Digital Antilock Brake System, or ABS* monitors wheel speed, and matches stopping power to available traction.
* Please note that ABS is a supplement device for brake operation, not a device for shortening stopping distances. Always remember to reduce speed sufficiently before approaching curves and corners, or when encountering slower traffic.
Attention to user convenience
The functionally arranged, easy-to-read instrument cluster contains a comprehensive set of gauges and indicators, including a convenient gear-position indicator and a shift light. The height of the comfortably contoured seat can be adjusted up or down 20mm by removing, flipping over and re-installing clever mounting spacers between the seat and the frame seat rails. A convenient centerstand is standard equipment.
