Yamaha presented at the 41st Tokyo AutoMoto Show last month their HV-X hybrid concept.
Yamaha’s HV-X or Hybrid Vehicle (eXperimental) is based on their best selling T-Max 500’s aluminum chassis with a 250-cc single-cylinder 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine, and the electric 15kW motor activated by lithium-ion batteries.
This UJM.(Universal Japanese Motorcycle) prototype is based on the same technology of Toyota’s hybrid car, the Prius, (Toyota owns 5% of Yamaha Motor Company) and has already undergone extensive testing and if they decide to put it into mass production will offer environmentally-conscious performance, low emissions and improved fuel efficiency, just what everyone is looking for.
