After the news that John Hopkins would be testing a Suzuki at the Auto Club Speedway at Fontana and that Team Hammer wants Hopkins to return to their fold for the 2010 season, FB Corse has found itself forced to issue a press release with details confirming their project, and clarify the situation regarding Hopkins.
Unfortunately at the moment the official press release is only in Italian and we’ve found a copy of it on another website, while FB Corse’s official website is currently having a meltdown.
To make this story short, FC Corse is upset with the foreign media because they’ve (we’ve) published “partially incorrect and conflicting information” regarding their team and the news that Hopkins will probably be racing in the AMA/DMG.
According to the Italian team, they and Hopkins have mutally agreed that it is natural that the American rider would want to test another racing bike in his country, because it’s only part of keeping up his physical training.
The team in joint statement together with Hopkin’s manager, Bob Moore (our note: there are no quoted words from Moore) are sorry that Hopkin’s has yet to officially test on a race track their bike and that the priority of the team is the MotoGP project and that John just can’t wait to to get to know and test the three cylinder bike, more than any other bike from a smaller championship and that is only due to force majeure the bike has yet to be tested and this does not mean that Hopkins has made other arrangements for the 2010 season.
FB Corse therefore confirms that this situation is perfectly normal and has been wholely agreed upon between the parties and that the team is continuing their ambitious project and that the official presentation will be in Milan as programmed only postponed, because Andrea Ferrari has to undergo minor surgery (rumor says hand surgery) and that during the press conference everthing will be clarified.
Why is John Hopkins always involved in these type of weird stories? Need we remind anyone of Kawasaki, Hayate, and Stiggy Honda?
