Three times World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss is thinking of returning to racing, and this time the Australian rider, who left an incredible void with Ducatisti and racing fans worldwide, seems very serious about a comeback.

Barely 8 months ago Bayliss was already talking about making a comeback, seemingly tired of retirement after trying to get his adrenaline fix with a new career in Australia’s V8 Supercar series, but now the the Superbike champion has confessed to Dean Adams of SuperbikePlanet.com that he believes he retired to early and deeply misses the competiveness of motorcycle racing.

“All I can say is that I am going back to ride the bike again,” Bayliss confessed, “and I am thinking about starting again, honestly.”

Where would Bayliss go if he does come out of retirement? The Aussie is a Ducati man through and through and is still has a contract with Ducati for promotional reasons.

“I’m not joking,” he told SuperbikePlanet “This is basically all I want to say for now. If I do come back, I should be on a Ducati.”

With this year’s Ducati Xerox team clearly underperforming and Nori Haga and Michel Fabrizio not having made a breach in the hearts of Ducati fans, the return of Troy Bayliss to the fold would be a big, big welcome, especially if he should find a solution to the 1198R’s problems during his current tests at the Mugello.
