Five years after the introduction of the 1050cc Sprint ST, Triumph has come out with a new updated model of the popular sports tourer, the Sprint GT. This tourer is a little more practical, and a bit less sport than the ST and ideal for long trips thanks to increased capacity.
The performances are guaranteed by latest version of the legendary three-cylinder Triumph engine from 1050 cc, with a number of updates that increase power, torque and usability.
The new exhaust, combined with ECU reprogrammed makes it possible to increase the power of 5 bhp to achieve 132 hp at 9,200 rpm. The pair has been optimized to make better arrangements for the average peak of the curve increased to 108 Nm (+5 Nm) at a speed of 1,200 rpm lower than the Sprint ST.
More after the jump.
The main twin-spar aluminium beam frame is carried over from the Sprint ST, while the 43mm front forks have received updated internals for improved control and damping. The rest of the chassis is brand new, specifically designed for the GT. All-new rear shock also embraces the GT’s practicality drive, featuring a remote pre-load adjuster wheel which is easily accessible and can be changed by hand to accommodate solo and two-up riding.
The Sprint GT comes equipped with full touring specification 31 litre panniers and a top box (optional) capable of carrying two full sized helmets, The GT’s topbox has the benefit of a built in 12 volt power socket that allows the recharging of electrical items such as mobile phones and notebook computers.
