This morning’s second free practice saw Dani Pedrosa hit the top of charts with a best lap of 2′04.944 and the only rider to break under the 2.05 mark on a cold Silverstone track.

The lower temperatures caught out four riders, Andrea Dovizioso at the “Club,” Hector Barbera and Marco Simoncelli both crashed at the Maggots-Becketts-Chapek while Ben Spies had a ugly looking highside that left him limping and a trip to the Clinica Mobile.

Randy de Puniet looks like he may heading for a podium tomorrow, because on his satellite Honda he was a little less than three tenths of a second from the Honda factory rider.

Jorge Lorenzo, who is suffering from some neck pain took third and was 0.404s from Pedrosa, but concentrating on his long runs while Casey Stoner was fourth and Andrea Dovizioso in fifth, making it three Honda’s in the top five.

Ducati’s Nicky Hayden was sixth, an improvement from yesterday, but more than 1 second from the top spot. Marco Melandri was seventh and less than one tenth from Hayden. Colin Edwards was another rider who jumped forward taking 8th. The Texas Tornado was followed by Marco Simoncelli who despite his crash finished in 9th and Aleix Espargaro rounded out the top ten.
