On the first day of private testing at the Motorland Aragón circuit saw Fimmco Speed Up Moto2 rider Andrea Iannone continue his excellent form even on the new race track. Iannone who has been impressive in the last three Moto2 races was the fastest in the field of the Moto2 riders present in the morning session.
Iannone stopped the clock at 1.55.364, while Shoya Tomizawa (Technomag-CIP) was the fastest rider during the afternoon with his 1.55.758. The Japanese rider had to end his session early due to harmless crash that left his Suter chassis bike in need of repairs.
Julián Simón was third with his 1’55.814 and championship points leader Toni Elías took fourth. Simone Corsi was fifth and the last rider under the 1’56 mark.
Mattia Pasini who got the boot from JiR Racing before the Catalunya round was also present. The Italian rider is now looking for a new ride and got a chance to ride Robertino Pietri’s Italtrans S.T.R Suter bike and finished 17th, however was one of the fastest riders during the morning session.
Marc Márquez led the way for the 125cc riders in both sessions, posting a 1:59.949 in the morning, and a 1:59.544 in the afternoon. The 17-year-old Spaniard has won four successive Grand Prix races this season. The second and third fastest riders were Tuenti Racing’s Pol Espargaro and Efren Vazquez.
