8 hours suzuka 2010

Besides the MotoGP race at Laguna Seca race, the famous Suzuka 8 Hours race also took place this weekend and it was the HARC-PRO team with Takumi Takahashi, Ryuichi Kiyonari and 17 year old Takaaki Nakagami as the third rider who won the 33rd edition of this prestigious endurance race.

Takumi Takahashi, leader of the All Japan Superbike and Ryuichi Kiyonari (3rd win after 2005 and 2008 with HRC) conducted the race with a race pace around 2′09″ and taking advantage of all the incredible errors committed by the other teams.

Second place went to the Keihin Kohara Racing Team on a Honda with former MotoGP and WSBK rider Makoto Tamada and Shinichi Itoh.

The Yoshimura Suzuki of Daisaku Sakai and Yukio Kagayama who had grabbed the pole position, was stopped by two crashes by Sakai (we saw him in action in WSBK round at Monza) and finished the race in sixth place ,while race favourites F.C.C. TSR Honda with WSBK rider Jonathan Rea and Honda official test rider Kousuke Akiyoshi (who subbed for Hiroshi Aoyama in MotoGP) and Moto2 rider Yuki Takahashi went through two ride through penalities after Akiyoshi passed during the yellow flag regime twice and then Rea crashed getting back on track in 42nd position, four laps behind the leaders, before coming back with the best race lap, in 2’08.705 and his team finishing third.

Suzuki Faro Plot Panthera, earned fourth place, ahead of the Honda Team Plus One who currently leads Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship.
