Max Biaggi will be racing till he’s forty-one years old. The Italian, who is very close to winning his first World Superbike title, last night renewed his contract with the Noale based factory for the 2011 and 2012 seasons and will be receiving 1 million euros for each season, plus bonuses.

While it was thought that Biaggi’s renewal would be a foregone conclusion for Aprilia, according to omnimoto.com negotiations got stuck at the beginning of summer, with Piaggio’s Leo Mercanti wanting to lower Biaggi’s paycheck compared to the 2009/2010 season and renewing for only one year at a time, but the Roman Emperor won out and Italy’s wet dream can continue for another two years, with an Italian rider on an Italian motorcycle and Italian sponsor.

UPDATE:

With several rumors denying that Max Biaggi had officially renewed with Aprilia, our Italian cousins at Motoblog.it have called Aprilia and have found out that the Italian has yet to renew his contract and that negotiations are still ongoing.
