Moto2 points leader Toni Elias was able to edge out Scott Redding from today’s pole position by just 0.044s at the Misano World Circuit. This is the Gresini rider’s second pole of the season after taking the first at the Qatar GP.

Elias has five wins including three in a row in the last three rounds so far this season, is still feeling the after effects of the energy sapping fever, will have his work cut out for him with Redding in spectacular form on the Suter Evo machine.

Julian Simon took third, but he was baulked by traffic and Jules Cluzel will take off from fourth. Opening the second row will be Andrea Iannone in fifth, despite mechanical troubles and a double fracture to his wrist bone picked up during the Indianapolis qualifying session. Jir’s Simone Corsi qualified in sixth ahead of new team mate Alex de Angelis. Shoya Tomizawa was eighth ahead of wildcard Mattia Pasini on the third Suter Italtrans S.T.R. Closing out the top ten was Gabor Talmacsi.
