The FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) has announced MotoGP’s provisional calendar for the 2011 season with 18 races scheduled.

The season will kick of in Qatar on March 20th (the Losail circuit holds the rights for the season opener) and has been moved up three weaks earlier than this year. The Estoril GP has been moved to May instead of this year’s end of October date, while the Catalunya GP will take place almost a month earlier and Laguna Seca will once again be for MotoGP only.

The new schedule also includes Motorland Aragon as a permanent venue. The new Spanish circuit made its debut on the calendar when it replaced the financially troubled Hungarian Balatonring track. The inclusion of Aragon also means there will be four races in Spain again next year, with Valencia as tradition wants it, closing the season at the Ricardo Tormo circuit on November 6th.
