MotoGP Estoril: Valentino Rossi fastest in warm-up practice

On a drying track at Estoril, with the sun coming out in this morning’s MotoGP warm-up practice (with an extra 10 minutes added) saw Valentino Rossi come out on top with a best time of 1’48″363.

Rossi was followed by Casey Stoner who was 0.331s behind the Italian, after struggling for the first part of the session. Jorge Lorenzo who lead the only two practice sessions this weekend, was third after pipping Ben Spies by 0.023s in the dying moments of the practice.

These four riders were separated by less than a second, with an all Italian group taking up the next three positions, Marco Simoncelli, Andrea Dovizioso and Marco Melandri.

Eighth went to Aleix Espargaro who will be in Moto2 next season, with the Pons Kalex team, followed by Nicky Hayden in ninth and second in this afternoon’s starting grid, while Randy de Puniet closed out the top ten.
