As usual Casey Stoner at Valencia is devastating. The Australian got off on the right foot leading the field during this morning’s FP1 and will try to make up what happened in last year’s sighting lap and try to finish the season with the second spot in the standings.

Stoner’s best lap time was 1’32″897 that put him easily in front of Jorge Lorenzo who took second, but was more than half a second slower.

Andrea Dovizioso, Marco Simoncelli and Valentino Rossi, were third, fourth and fifth respectively and separated by one tenth of second between them. Nicky Hayden took sixth and was just 0.043s from Rossi.

In a surprising 7th spot was Hector Barbera followed by Randy de Puniet in eighth. Spies was ninth, but binned his M1 at the during the dying minutes and managed to limp away under his own power, seeming to not have avraggated his already injured left ankle, while Aleix Espargaro took tenth in what will be his last weekend in MotoGP before switching to Moto2.
