The first official MotoGP tests at Sepang are over and the fastest rider on track today remained Marco Simoncelli with his 2’00″757 lap scorcher, but as we said yesterday everyone would try go for the hot lap glory in the last hour of testing as Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo tried to do.

Stoner moved up the chart to take second and hanging on to his tail was Lorenzo and the three riders were separated by just a breathe, a mere 0,088s. Hopefully this tight testing finale will also give us some tight races.

Following were Andrea Dovizioso, Ben Spies and Dani Pedrosa, While Hiroshi Aoyama, a revelation in these past three days as was Suzuki’s Alvaro Bautista, who didn’t take part today due to illness and substituted by test rider Nobuatsu Aoki. Aoyama took the seventh spot with his satellite Honda and just a little less than 6 tenths of second off.

Ducati’s Nicky Hayden in eighth finished ahead of team mate Valentino Rossi in 10th, but who was able to shave off almost one second from yesterday’s best lap, but he’s still 1.085s off the pace. The rest of the Ducati’s were in 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th with Hector Barbera, Loris Capirossi, Randy de Puniet and Karel Abraham.

MotoGP testing will resume in two weeks time always at Sepang.
