We shall never doubt Carlos Checa again, after a difficult Friday and so so Saturday morning at Assen, the Spaniard got his mojo back and flew into pole postion in this afternoon’s Superpole shoot-out, taking his third Superpole of this 2011 season.

The Althea Ducati rider’s best lap was 1′35.292 which was three tenths faster and more than enough to deny Jacub Smrz who is on a roll in this third round, the top spot on tomorrow’s starting grid. The front row will also see Yamaha’s Eugene Laverty and Noriyuki Haga who fast coming into his own on the Aprilia RSV4 and once againbeat out Max Biaggi as top starter for the Italian manufacturer.

The second row will see last year’s double winner Jonathan Rea, Biaggi who was using his 2nd bike after crashing in the earlier free practice session, Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes and Marco Melandri, who crashed on his last flying lap at the Stekkenwal turn, when he was on his way to almost certain front row start.
