Video: Karel Abraham and Casey Stoner, the Mugello moment

Karel Abraham may be a newbie to MotoGP, but he doesn’t stand in awe or bend over to anyone, not even towards former 2007 World champion and standings leader Casey Stoner.

This is the video of the now well noted altercation between the two riders and filmed by Pole Position Travel during the official test at Mugello last Monday, and truthfully it doesn’t seem as bad as the Italian journalists from Sportmediaset described it.

Apparently Stoner was a bit disappointed with Abraham’s on and off track behaviour and will try to talk to him during this weekend’s Sachsenring round and try to clear the air.

Well done Karel Abraham. I can’t say who is right or wrong, he did the right thing by standing up to Stoner like a man. The body language says a lot, and I think that Stoner didn’t expect to be confronted. Lets hope that this sort of confrontation self-regulates the current tension in the paddock, as fines, etc. don’t seem to do much.

You are right, we don’t know what happened but because brits and yanks don’t like Stoner (envy?) he is guilty by “body language” evidence?
Maybe the “silver spoon kid” doesn’t like plebs getting in his way either?

He hasn’t exactly shown silver-spoon-ness so far. His manner was pretty civil in fact- I think if he was haughty then it would fully come through in the way that he addressed it. As for body language, it isn’t a court of law of course, but sometimes it betrays more than it is intended to.

My point isn’t that one or the other was right- I just liked how he addressed it. Didn’t use the press, didn’t do anything ridiculous on track, didn’t whine, but told him head-on what he thought.

Stoner is rarely on his back foot- he’s looking pretty defensive in my books. Towing may be annoying, but ramming is irresponsible.
