Yamaha presents Xenter, a new modern and stylish high-wheel scooter that completes its range of commuter motorcyles. Judging by these pictures, the bike seems to be very rational and easy to handle, perfect for a comfortble and sporty ride, with a light rear end. It will come with 125cc or 150cc engines, which make it an ideal solution for urban traffic and would be good enough for motoways as well.
The structure of the Xenter is quite classic, with a twin-spar frame making space for the spacious flat footboard, while the rear monocross type suspension is specifically designed and placed in the bike’s body in order to provide the rider with a more responsive handling sensation, more like a bike than a scooter. The Xenter is equipped with Yamaha’s Unified Brake System, which makes the most out of the large 267mm front disc brake and 150mm rear drum brake.
However, the most distictive part of the bike are the 16″ 5-spoke wheels that are fitted with large tailor-made tyres for outstanding grip and handling. The engine of the 150 version (which is actually 155cc) has 4 valves per cylinder, forged aluminum pistons, ceramic impregnated cylinder line and single-shaft balancer, just like sporty bikes.
The Xenter is a typical Yamaha scooter aimed at a large audience, from the 16 years old student to the daily commuter in suit and tie. The rear-end design reminds us of bigger bikes, while the flat and spacious foot-board is a typical feature of high-wheel scooters. The bike has several storage compartments and a glove box, but it also comes with standard colour-coordinated 39-litres capacity top case and a windscreen with hand protection. Ergonomic backrest cushion, rain covers and console bag are avilable as extras.
