Giacomo Agostini, legend of motorcycling, winning more world titles than any other rider and still loved by fans, is today at the centre of the market, not for riders but for sponsors.
As reported by GPone, it appears that the great ‘Ago’ will return to putting on AGV, bought last summer by Dainese from Nolan.
The new helmet with the legendary tricolour will be presented by Agostini in occasion of the Tourist Trophy, a race won ten times by Agostini who still holds the record. At the 2008 TT Dainese will also be present in its role of Official Safety Partner.
The company was named Official Safety Partner of the legendary race that has taken place every year since 1907 on the Isle of Man, England. To seal the important sponsorship deal, the two main superbike races of the Tourist Trophy, taking place the 31st of May and the 7th of June, will be renamed the Isle of Man Dainese Superbike Race and the Isle of Man Dainese Senior TT Race.
The TT will be the first “Italian Legendary Protection” event, a project which Dainese has established with AGV and which aims to publicise and celebrate the long tradition that the two Italian companies have in common in motorcycling history in terms of protection and safety.
During the two weeks of competition, in Douglas (the main city on the island), an exclusive exhibition will be available to the public, showing important historical outfits chosen from the more than 600 from Dainese’s archives, that have protected such champions as Barry Sheene, Kevin Schwantz, Giacomo Agostini, Kenny Roberts, Valentino Rossi and more. In addition to the outfits, precious historical AGV helmets will also be displayed as well as D-air® racing projects.
