The new Moto Guzzi V7 Classic has been presented to the media and is a fascinting and historically important motorcycle. The V7 was in fact created by genius Giulio Cesare Carcano in 1967, debuting the V-form twin-cylinder at 703cc, a record for those times.

The new V7 is a modern motorcycle with a 750cc Euro 3 engine, tubular chassis and stylish saddle compartments giving the bike its distinctive look, just like that of the original version. The bike also includes the return of a chrome finish exhaust system, shock absorbers, tank cap, and front light system. The wheels are of a spoke design and contain sporty tyres, while the instrument panel is understated and functional.

The seat is comfortable for both rider and passenger with hand grips and foot rests for the passenger. The more upright driving position is comfortable and versatile for both city and highway riding. The bike’s style is a mix between tradition and modernity with inspiration taken from the Special and the Sport, and has echoes of the style of the 60’s and 70’s.

The V7 is a light and agile bike, with rear suspension and double shock absorbers and a wheel base that adapts itself to riding conditions. The fork is a Marzocchi with 40mm stems and the front suspension has a range of 130mm, while the double rear shock absorber, with adjustable spring, can extend to 118mm. The braking system includes a front floating 320mm disc and a rear one at 260mm. The front wheel is 18 inches and the rear at 17, enabling greater driving feel and manoeuvrability.

The twin cylinder V at 744cc is fun and powerful to ride with an 80mm cylinder and Weber Marelli electronic ignition. The five gear shift is precise and immediate and is adpated to a touring use through its instant responsiveness. At only 3600 revs the engine can already exploit its full torque of 54.7 Nm and while you don’t have to ride at the maximum power of 50 CV, the V7 Classic can support a more enthusiastic rider.
