Clearly in the vein of the Ducati Multistrada and the new Triumph Tiger, this Honda Crossrunner video shows the allrounder theme behind this new bike, presented at the 2010 EICMA show. Reports are it could see production as early as 2011, and could compete directly with the Tiger, although at a price of about 11,000 euros (compared to the Tiger’s 9,000 to 10,000 price tag).
The Honda Crossrunner is another 800cc engine, seemingly the flavour of the motorcycle market at the moment, and is Honda’s V4 unit with 100 hp and 73 Nm of torque. At this stage the Crossrunner, one of Honda’s two concept bikes at EICMA, looks the one destined for production with its sports and urban style with some gentle offroading intended on the way.
The Honda Crosstourer, the other concept presented, is perhaps the one met with more dubious reaction and Honda has stressed so far that it is strictly a concept motorcycle. If the Crossrunner gets to production, though, we don’t see why the Crosstourer won’t as well, continuing the range and using the V4 engine on a more powerful, touring platform than the Crossrunner.
We weren’t intially convinced by the Crosstourer model but given the interview in the video after the jump, we understand more what Honda was trying to achieve and are interested in the new possibilities for the V4 engine. The adventure concept certainly has the potential to become a production model and we can see Honda developing a small ‘cross’ range as these two bikes seem to fit nicely. In fact, their names suggest Honda has thought about this for a while before putting together a couple of concepts and leaving it at that. See the interview with Honda designer Yosuke Hasegawa after the jump.

Could the Brammo brand of electric motorcycles be coming to Europe? The American company brought over a couple of models to show at the 2010 EICMA show, creating curiosity for many who had their first chance to get up-close to these bikes. The Brammo Empulse electric superbike was on display, as was the Brammo Enertia Plus, designed more for urban use than track racing.
The world of electric cars and motorcycles is somewhat of a paradox, with Europe a big player in the field of developing electric cars, whereas the old continent seems to have left two-wheeled electric experiments to the Americans. The presence of Brammo at the EICMA show would seem to indicate that a possible presence on the European market is on the cards for the future.
There will be some work to do to improve the style of the bikes, bringing them up to the design standards of Europe, but we’d welcome a serious electric bike presence on this market.
Back to Lambretta origins seemed the theme from the company at the 2010 EICMA as in years gone by we’ve seen some hit-and-miss stuff from this historic Italian brand (specifically the Lambretta Pato who’s campaign to compete with 1950’s and 70’s Vespas didn’t quite come off).
The new Lambretta LN model has gone for a classic design with a squared-off front mudguard and elegant proportions with sculpted wing-shape designed sides tapering to the rear. The engine is a twin-valve, single-cylinder air-cooled unit. The model comes in either a 125 or 150cc model.
The Lambretta brand might not be quite ready to take on a model like the Vespa PX but this new design from Motom Electronics Group seems to be a positive indication that the model is regaining some of its lost identity and hopefully we’ll see some quality build that will bring it back to its cult status.

After seeing the Vespa PX officially launch its new challenge in the scooter segment, it was with interest that we also saw the LML Star products at the 2010 EICMA show. LML took its Star I and Star Electric concept to the show along with other models including: the Mat Series, Star RS, Star GT, Bicolor Vintage, Star Art and Star Corsa. They are a series of four-stroke and two-stroke scooters of mostly 125 and 150cc capacity.
The new Star 4T model was also present, as was the Star two-stroke restyling. The new Star 4T comes in 125, 150 and 151cc versions; with a four-speed manual gearbox it’s famous for its tubular chassis structure which has new improvements for this year, reducing vibrations and making for a safer and more comfortable ride.
The Star 2T could be considered the main competitor to the new Vespa PX as it has a manual gearbox and either electronic or pedal kick-start. The improvements this year on the Star 2T are mostly of an aesthetic nature with closer attention to detail of the finishings and it comes in three lines: Classic, Vintage and Glamour.
The 2010 EICMA show concludes today and here are the last live pics from the show - we couldn’t wrap-up without sharing with you the girls from EICMA. Every year it’s an opportunity to check out the latest from the biker show girls and this time we have the usual looking-pretty-on-a-bike theme to cube dancers. Enjoy with thanks to our guys from Motoblog.it.
Yamaha brought their electric moped the EC-03 to the EIMA show after previously revealing that would get it’s Japanese launch in October and will target European markets next Spring.
Here’s the promo video to go with this very essential e-moped (that looks very similar to Piaggio’s old 50cc Ciao), but Yamaha certainly has to pick up on the range autonomy that’s expected to be around 25km on a single charge and it’s estimated price will be around 2.390 euro.
Kawasaki has been generous to the crowds at the 2010 EICMA show, bringing its full range including the much anticipated new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Other models at the show are the Kawasaki Z1000 in its semi-faired SX version, the Z750R, the W800 and the Custom Voyager VN1700. The company has been having mixed fortunes of late but there’s something still irresistable in that shade of green. See the live EICMA pics below.
The new Vespa PX is one hot little scooter which will bring back old-style scootering to those purists who still want to do stuff like change gears themselves. The immortal PX seen in these live pics from EICMA, will revive the classic two-stroke 125 and 150cc engines which might not sound like much to a modern luddite but this is about as romantic and nostalgic as you can get on nowadays scooters.
It’s the third time the Vespa PX will have appeared on the market and it will come with a four-speed gearbox with shift on the handle bar and will be available in Sport, Touring and ‘Via della moda’ options. The nifty thing is though, that despite it being a two-stroke, it still conforms to Euro 3 thanks to its new muffler.
For those looking for a fun scooter with all the style and status a Vespa gives, the PX is designed with you in mind. It’s lost on fancy technology to gain on traditional scootering fun. We get the feeling that anyone riding this will feel like they’re once again participating in a cool niche which harks back to 1960’s Dolce Vita style.
After all the leaking drama and our questions about what kind of bike the new Triumph Tiger would be, it seems like it almost sneaked into the 2010 EICMA. Let this be a lesson to other motorcycle marketing teams - too many teasers and leaks rob you of the fanfare in the end. And we’re still suckers for fanfare.
Anyway, here are live pics from EICMA of the Triumph stand including the new Tiger 800 and Tiger 800 XC models along with the Daytona 675R. The latter promises to be an exciting bike for fans of the sports variety of Triumph, having Ohlins suspension, new graphics, Quickshifter gearbox and Brembo brakes. The engine will still remain the cleverest thing about this bike even though the 125 hp didn’t get a boost.
The new adventure Triumph Tiger models have yet to prove themselves on the market but we’ll be reading with interest the test rides as they come soon. The new models are on the floor with the full Triumph range including the 2011 Triumph Speed Triple, the Triumph America, the Thunderbird Storm and the Speed Master.

How cool is this Husqvarna Mille 3 Concept? Below you can see live pics from EICMA of the cross between a cruiser and a motard and as a pure design exercise, we love it. The retro style is not all this is about, though, as Husqvarna has decided to use three cylinders from its usual range making a V-triple, 930cc set-up. The chassis is a sleek, low affair with a central tube and then a twin-beam structure with aluminium support at the rear.
The cruiser look and big wheels might lull you into thinking this is a roughly put together concept but the guys at Husqvarna have bothered to include some supersports aspects like top-end brakes, adjustable suspension and twin exhaust. And it looks very smooth and sexy despite its evident dirt bike inspiration. The Mille 3 Concept deservingly drew quite a crowd - check it out in the pics below.

I can’t decide if the Ducati Diavel looks as chunky in the flesh as in its studio pics or less so, but here are live pics from EICMA from the Ducati stand. We’ll have to wait until the best bike verdict from the 2010 EICMA emerges before we can gauge local reaction to the Diavel but a number of contrasting words come to mind: everything from abomination, innovation, anomaly and curiosity from Ducati. The Diavel is at the show with the old favourite, the Ducati Monster (1100 EVO), the Ducati 848 EVO and the new Ducati 1198SP which was first revealed at Intermot. The Diavel steals the show but more for the novelty factor than anything else.

Honda has brought two concept bikes to the 2010 EICMA show and here we bring live pics from EICMA of the Honda stand (thanks to our guys at Motoblog.it). The Honda V4 Crosstourer Concept is perhaps the most interesting of the models on show, although the newish Honda VFR1200F actually occupies the middle of the area. There is also the new Honda Mid Concept scooter on the stand as well.
There’s no concrete news at the moment as to whether the Crosstourer Concept will go into production although reports are that it won’t. It’s more like a study in what you can do with a V4 engine and DCT or dual-clutch transmission. The Mid Concept scooter is also equipped with DCT technology in what looks to be Honda’s baby of the moment.
The Crosstourer has been variously identified with the Africa Twin model and even the BMW GS range, but more for style than substance given the V4 set-up. It’s the first time this engine has been used on an enduro-road bike and it might even be considered exaggerated, especially given the V4 sister sitting next to it, the VFR1200F, and its use. Honda claims this is a prototype model but it looks very well finished at this stage.
