As we reported yesterday, MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was at the EICMA Show and after attending the opening ceremony with Italy’s PM Berlusconi, visited the Yamaha stand and his helmet manufacturer Nolan to meet fans and sign autographs.
Lorenzo talked about his win at Estoril, the title the upcoming season finale at Valencia and Yamaha. “It was a great day, particularly because I am sure Valentino gave it all.” said the new World Champion talking about his devasting win over Rossi at the Portoguese GP.
Lorenzo will be looking to win at Valencia, which isn’t known as a friendly track for the M1 and try to take Valentino Rossi’s record of number of points in a season. “It is important to finish on a high note, but I am really looking forward to take a break and re-charge my batteries for 2011.”
Talking about the 2011 season said “It is too soon to talk about next season, but I would have loved to face Valentino on a Yamaha once again. On the same bike, you don’t have an excuse, the stronger takes all, the loser cannot appeal to a technical deficit.” and about his team, “It is an amazing team, that gave me plenty of support from the very first moment” and whether he feels like the strongest rival of the Rossi era: “He should answer this question, not me…”
The Yamaha Super Ténéré is sporting a new black livery on the Yamaha stand live at the 2010 EICMA show and it’s an example of the natural evolution of some of the Yamaha bikes at the show, given that the company hasn’t brought anything revolutionary this year. The Yamaha EC-03 electric scooter is present, along with the Yamaha Worldcrosser concept we saw at Intermot.
There is a long list of four-cylinder models present with new ABS optional including: the FZ1, FZ1 Fazer, FZ8, Fazer 8, XJ6 Diversion and XJ6 Diversion F. We also get a glimpse at the Yamaha Sport and Touring accessories which will appear as a complete package across the Yamaha range from next year, meaning that customers should be able to save some money on purchasing single accessories.
The Yamaha Super Tenere 1200, for example, will be available from 2011 with Sport, Touring or Touring Plus packages which include various accessory kits. Yamaha claims the saving can be up to 20 percent compared with single accessory purchases. There are a few new colours in the range but the Yamaha R1 and R6 keep their classic Yamaha Blue. See more in the live pics below.
It makes so much sense to us that BMW should create its own maxi-scooter model that we almost can’t believe it hasn’t done so before. The BMW Concept C has been presented live at the EICMA show and it made quite a splash among those present. BMW plans to introduce two premium maxi-scooter models to start with, both equipped with an internal combustion engine. A future model will most likely offer an electric option but let’s take this one step at a time.
BMW has already announced the production of its new maxi-scooters at its new Berlin production plant. They will offer an innovative and futuristic take on the maxi-scooter segment (we like the style already even if the production version will change somewhat from the concept seen here) where the ‘C’ stands for Commuter. And there’s nothing BMW will do better than offer a luxury, cool but practical commuting scooter. Imagine going to work on this thing and you’ve got what BMW has in mind.
BMW Motorrad has done an impressive job with the Concept C scooter. Maxi-scooters are not traditionally the most emotional part of the motorcycle market, but the company has tried to mix both technical functionality and great style. On this first glimpse, we feel they’ve achieved that so far. For all the details, check out the press release after the jump with more pics from EICMA 2010 and the official Concept C gallery.

While Ducati will be getting Valentino Rossi next year and making an Italian marketing dream come true, the manufacturer hasn’t forgetten what Casey Stoner has done for the marque in MotoGP racing in these last three years and before his switch to Honda HRC.

At this year’s EICMA in Milan, Ducati showed visitors their deep appreciation for the Australian rider winning the 2007 World Championship title, with this wall that says “Grazie Casey”, and photos from all 23 of his first place podiums.

Here’s yet another video of the new Triumph Tiger bike where we see both the 800 and 800 XC models in action. While we’ve enjoyed the style of the Tiger videos with their high quality editing and special effects, it looks like for some this latest is the last straw in the Tiger leaking and presentation saga.
After a plethora of teaser images, marketing stunts, leaked accessories catalogues, galleries and videos the Triumph Tiger model should finally be ready for its ‘official’ presentation at the 2010 EICMA show and not before time. We had expect the full low-down after the leaked gallery but still the company remained silently stubborn on releasing anything official, making us wonder if that particular revelation was pure accident and the folks at Triumph weren’t very impressed.
In any case, on publishing this video Hell for Leather had nothing particularly positive to say about the Triumph Tiger and Asphalt and Rubber made no comment at all. The line of thinking on HFL though might come across as a little unfair to some Triumph fans. The story goes that after all the drama we should have been enable to expect something extraordinary, instead what we get is a ho-hum competitor to the BMW F800GS. This judgement is based on the technical specs which you can finally see at the dedicated Triumph adventure site.
So after judging a bike by its specs and using adjectives like bland and ordinary, is it fair to say the Tiger doesn’t deliver? Or are we really talking about just how tired we got of the teaser campaign regardless of the bike? I would like to think that Triumph hasn’t shot itself in the foot on going overboard with leaks and that the general public in the market for this kind of bike will give it a chance anyway, especially if it hits the target where it should and at a lower price.
We’ll be bringing you more details of the new Suzuki Crosscage electric concept but for the moment here are live pics from EICMA from the Suzuki stand. The concept model from Suzuki is a surprise for the 2010 EICMA show and it appears alongside the other Suzuki models presented at the Intermot show: the GSR750 and the GSX-R 600 and GSX-R 750. From what we can see in these pics, the Suzuki Crosscage electric concept is predictably (and suitably) futuristic with a sleek, aerodynamic look. More details to come.

CR&S hand-built bikes from Italy continue to fascinate and here are live pics from EICMA of the CR&S DUU model. It has had a quick ascension from last year’s protoype and has already entered production for those wanting a real, custom-built motorcycle. After the Ducati Diavel, it’s the only other Italian cruiser model at the 2010 EICMA but if you’re seriously into your cruisers, this custom will steal the show for you over the Diavel, any day.
In fact, the DUU is a true amalgamation of European design on an American icon. Taking the cruiser bike history and an American engine, CR&S has tried to stick to European design principles in terms of chassis quality and pure, clean style. The company says more than 130 orders have already been placed meaning that its workshop approach has worked so far.
We’ll be bringing you more live pics from EICMA as get them, but here is a look at the 2011 KTM range which includes the KTM 1190 RC8 R, the 990 SMT ABS, the 990 Adventure Dakar, the 350 EXC-F Factory, the 125 Duke and the RC8 R Track. Some of these appeared at the Intermot show in Cologne last month while the others make for a complete range of KTM at the 2010 EICMA Milan show.
The KTM 1190 RC8 R for 2011 has a hot new look making it more aggressive and racing-style. White and orange have never looked so good together. Other than that the RC8 R gets new crankshaft, dual-plug ignition which increases power to 175 hp, updated fuel injection, and new suspension components to improve handling. The RC8 R Track is basically the race version of this bike with racing exhaust and fairings.
The 990 Adventure Dakar gets the same 115 hp engine as the Adventure R but utilises the components of the standard 990 Adventure. We get fancy new blue and orange livery, ABS brakes and a suede seat about as comfortable as you can get on these purpose-built bikes. It’s a limited edition KTM made to celebrate the company’s 30 years in the Dakar rally.

Hot on the heels of the mega gallery of the MV Agusta F3, here are live pics of the F3 from the 2010 EICMA show which started in Milan today. What’s there to say really? The pics come courtesy of Motoblog.it and show the F3 as a compact, dynamic, refined and utterly classy bike. We want one.
The Ducati Diavel will probably get a mixed reception as it’s unveiled at the 2010 EICMA show this week. A Ducati cruiser presented on home turf in Italy might not win the crowds and we’ve already had inklings that this will be a model to polerise more than a few. This is mostly though, because it’s an Italian cruiser - kind of the antithesis of what you’d expect from Italian motorcycle design - and not because Ducati has put together something ordinary.
The Diavel weighs just 210 kg and has 162 hp and 127 Nm of torque, meaning it’s Ducati’s take on what a cruiser is and could be. Design doubts aside, Ducati has equipped the Diavel will plenty of goodies including ride-by-wire technology, LED lights, tank-mounted instrumentation, Marzocchi forks and Brembo monoblock brakes. The mega rear wheel is almost offensive, but then this will be a bike for attention grabbers and Ducati has invested in some serious tyre technology, working with Pirelli to create a smooth centre surface for cruising and gripping sides for better cornering.
The Ducati cruiser will also be offered in a new Ducati Diavel Carbon version which drops weight further to 207 kg. Given concerns over cost of the standard Diavel, we reckong the carbon job will probably be prohibitive for most wanting one of these unless the baby boomers have got their savings set aside just for this. They will probably be the main market for the Diavel, with Ducati counting on its bulky style and cruising image to appeal, but we’ll be interested to see in the future how this model fares, particularly on the European market. See after the jump for more pics, the technical specs (standard version) and the official Diavel video.
The Piaggio Group will be bringing some new models to the 2010 EICMA although unfortunately we don’t expect anything that will knock our socks off quite like the Moto Guzzi concepts last year. In any case, we’ll get to see the Aprilia Tuono V4R on the floor which could steal the show from the Ducati Streetfighter. So far, we’ve got this 3/4 pic to show you and we think it will only be nastier in the flesh.
The Moto Guzzi Stelvio 8v gets a restyling with new sides, tank and front cover and a brand new set of wheels. It also gets a new colour scheme but at this stage we don’t know if there will be any changes regarding the engine and electronics. Meanwhile the RS125 will become the RS4 125 thanks to a new look taken from the current four-cylinder world champion.
For the 2010 EICMA Piaggio will present its new MP3 Yourban - a compact version of the world’s three-wheeler. It will continue the urban commuting philosophy but has a new, smaller front and is less powerful at the front wheels, designed for easier and lighter riding. Vespa will show off its GTV, S Sport and GTS Touring models, along with its new PX to compete with the success of the LML Star. More details to come from the show.

The beautiful MV Agusta F3 will grace the floor of the 2010 EICMA show from today until November 7, with the show opening to the public on Thursday. MV Agusta has again produced what is a truly lovely motorbike, building on the design fame of the classic F4 while also reviving the historic three cylinder set-up.
After the leaked pic of the F3 and press release, here are more images where we can see just how compact the engine unit is. Claudio Castiglioni believes the in-line, three cylinder 675cc unit is perfect for a mid-sized sports bike and looking at these pics, they’ve got the style sorted if nothing else. The MV Agusta F3 has other technology which should contribute to modernising the three-cylinder engine block and making for a competitive sportsbike in a crowded segment. For the first time multi-map Ride by Wire technology appears on an MV Agusta and it also gets traction control.
But it’s the actual mechanics of the thing that is the traditional MV Agusta touch and along with the impressive engine, the F3 has a steel tubular trellis frame, long rear swing arm and an overall compact bike that should be a lot of fun to ride. There are Marzocchi forks, Sachs shocks and Brembo brakes. We can’t wait to see it live and then eventually ride the F3! See a new video and more pics after the jump.
