The Wunderlich accessories and after parts specialist for BMW models produced this S1000RR Piranha edition and took it along to the 2010 Intermot show. This is about as mean as the BMW superbike could get - ripping off some of the fairing we get a nasty-looking naked bike that could even compete with the Aprilia Tuono.
It’s not exactly in BMW S1000RR style but then perhaps it’s not a bad thing to see some experimentation every so often. Besides, this is not the standard offering in the line-up but an extra take that allows customers to let their imagination go wild (literally). The S1000RR Piranha features asymmetrical fairing and just a tiny amount of covering across the airbox and tank which supports the front headlight. The instrumentation is mostly on display and a new gold steering base supports the handle bars.
Beyond the detail, the overall effect is pastiche - with bits and pieces featuring racing components and even carbon fibre. The exhaust is a different shape, there are MotoMaster wave brakes which is the only modification to the braking system, and there are also PVM six-spoke alloy wheels. You can either hand over your bike to the guys at Wunderlich or buy the kit. For more information see Wunderlich.de.
In this huge gallery we finally bring you all the pics from KTM’s new models presented at the 2010 Intermot show in Cologne. The new kid (literally) on the block is the KTM 125 Duke, which most likely already has 16-year-olds around the world wanting one. Some families are going to be in for a tough Christmas wish list this year.
After the hype surrounding that model, the new KTM RC8 track bike with 180 hp was also shown. The KTM 1190 RC8 R Track is an impressive ready-to-race performance-oriented bike with 123 Nm of torque and (probably) a dry weight of less than the 182 kg of the road version. It’s the first KTM that can go straight from production line to track and is homologated to FIM Superstock regulations.
Not only that, the 1190 RC8 R Track is very sexy - it’s got lovely clean lines, and the white fairing is quite spectacular. The third model presented was the new KTM 990 SM-T with ABS. The other technical characteristics of 115 hp and 193 kg dry weight remain unchanged. Check out all three in the big gallery below.

Kawasaki has revealed its new Z1000SX at the 2010 Intermot show. It’s part of a revamped Kawasaki range which includes an even sexier Ninja ZX-10R. The new Z1000SX is a competitive offering in the maxi naked segment, with Kawasaki focusing on more power and comfort in its sports bike.
It seems that 2011 could be the year of versatility for Kawasaki as the Z1000SX provides a supersports model for those coming from street or naked bikes with medium power capabilities. Clearly designed to make a visual impact, it certainly won’t please everyone for its chunky look, but Kawasaki has made up for that by providing some impressive power. The 1043cc engine is based on the Z1000 model and has 138 hp. The Z1000SX strives to distribute that evenly across all revs, with the butterfly valve ready response at high revs.
The four cylinder is placed in a twin beam aluminium frame which is designed to be stable and sporty. The front fork measures 41mm and the rear suspension uses a Back-link system. The brake system comprises radial calipers and brake pump. The Z1000SX is designed not just for high powered street riding, but should also prove comfortable enough for longer range trips.
As we get down to deciding the best bike at the 2010 Intermot show, here are the final contenders for the crown. In addition to its electronic-oriented RSV4 Factory APRC SE, Aprilia also brought along the new Dorsoduro 1200. While we saw the Dorsoduro preview in Milan, here we get more pics and details on the new Dorsoduro take.
This particular version is all about high power in the agile chassis of the Dorsoduro. It’s the first time the 1200cc twin-cylinder engine has equipped this famous bike from Aprilia and we’re keen to see how it fares on the market. While Aprilia has opened its press release on the Dorsoduro 1200 with the same opening about racing history as the new RSV4 special edition, we assume this has got to do more with Piaggio’s new company plan to have Aprilia focus on performance sports bikes than any link to be made between the Dorsoduro and previous MotoGP wins.
The driving philosophy behind the new Dorsoduro 1200 is to often fun and precision on a high-powered maximotard. Sifting through the marketing speak, we glean that the bigger Dorsoduro should build on the 750 model but provide a more high powered option in the street bike/supermoto mix. Aprilia’s word of the day is fun and with the nifty chassis and 130 hp we’re inclined to believe them. Below you’ll find all the pics and technical details of the new Dorsoduro 1200.

The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R gets a brand new engine, chassis and suspension components for 2011, making it one of the stars at the 2010 Intermot show. The ZX-10R has a new curved body look, rather than edged surfaces, and uses a new engine which offers 200 hp in linear power delivery.
Other features for the ZX-10R in 2011 include Kawasaki traction control (S-KTRC), ABS, and an entirely remapped torque distribution system for to maximise cornering and track riding. Power modes include low, middle and full, there is horizontal back-link rear suspension, Ohlins steering damper, an aluminium swingarm and fully redesigned lights which include LED and a changed front headlamp enabling a more compact nose.
After the jump you’ll find more from our huge gallery of the new Ninja ZX-10R as well as technical specs and official video. For more on the features of the revamped Ninja, see the ZX-10R info pages.
The Ducati 1198 also gets a few electronic updates at the 2010 Intermot show, going head-to-head with Aprilia on the superbike front. The new Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC special edition was revealed, and following that we see the Ducati 1198SP get the same superbike-technology-on-a-road-bike treatment.
The 1198 now has some electronic racing components from the R version such as DTC traction control, Ducati Data Analyser (DDA) and a quick shift option like that of the Aprilia. The Ducati 1198SP also gets an Ohlins TTX rear shock absorver, Ohlins at the front, new clutch control and some carbon fibre features. We also love the aluminium tank like what we’ve seen on the ‘Corsa’ versions. This Ducati 1198 special edition should replace the 1198S and will be sold at approximately that same price point.

The new BMW touring models K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL have been released at the 2010 Intermot show. The two models have been designed with travelling in mind and are both equipped with BMW’s in-line six cylinder engine. The brand new models have been created for long and comfortable travelling but with enough power and riding dynamics to keep things interested. They are the production version six-cylinder models of the original Concept 6 model which was presented last year, and should prove to be an interesting new-entry in the touring segment.
While touring models don’t thrill like sports bikes do, the K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL are very impressive inventions from BMW and frankly if you’re going a long way, you may as well do it in comfort and style. They both feature smooth running, comfort, high power and torque (at 160 hp and 175 Nm), Dynamic Traction Control with Rain, Road and Dynamic settings and electronic suspension adjustment. After the jump you’ll find all the technical details of the new BMW touring models.

The Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC Special Edition has been revealed at the 2010 Intermot show. The special edition RSV4 Factory taps into Aprilia’s racing heritage, especially after Max Biaggi’s WSBK championship win this year and Aprilia having earned the manufacturer’s title. The RSV4 APRC applies track technology and experience to Aprilia’s supersports road bike, creating what Aprilia likes to call a benchmark in this segment.
The new RSV4 APRC special edition is fitted with features such as adjustable traction control, wheelie control, launch control and quick shift transmission. It includes some of the features of the electronic engine management system of the SBK Aprilia bike with APRC standing for ‘Aprilia Performance Ride Control’. The package has improved lubrication and closer gears on the V4 engine, a lighter exhaust and an improved butterfly valve management system which is more closely matched to the Ride by Wire system.
The RSV4 APRC special edition is designed both for those wanting a more serious track bike, and for hobby riders who love this kind of superbike technology. The bike is even fitted with new dual blend 200/55 tyres which have been specifically developed with Pirelli for WSBK circuits. More details after the jump include spec sheets.

The new Suzuki GSR 750 streetfighting naked has been released at the 2010 Intermot show. It replaces the old GSR 600 and should continue the European success of the Z750. While hardly a shocking bike on the design front, the GSR750 is intended as a reliable allrounder for the city with some power for those wanting a more sports feel. The new bike is equipped with a four-cylinder, 750cc fuel-injected engine with a new twin beam frame.
A crude-looking bike, the Suzuki GSR750 isn’t meant to be an elegant sports bike although some features could have been a bit more refined. The GSX-R derived engine is a more compact motor and it combines with an overall slimmer structure to provide what could be quite an agile bike. The engine has a dual throttle valve system, digital ignition and exhaust tuning.
The frame combines both a street bike and sports bike design with a twinspar feature for more dynamic ride feel. Part of the design features side radiator panels, a sculpted fuel tank and angular rear. The front suspension includes inverted front forks while at the rear we get link suspension with a single rear shock absorber. More details after the jump.
Wow! Here’s a look at the 2011 Yamaha Worldcrosser concept which has been created especially for the 2010 Intermot show and the 2010 EICMA show. The Yamaha Super Ténéré 1200 influence is clear in a bike designed to be an hardcore adventure tourer.
The Worldcrosser is designed to be the ultimate in its segment equipped with a series of components and built with superlight materials. The main aim is for it to be the ultimate expression of the Super Ténéré (no challenge is too tough etc.).
The addition of some specialist components and the replacement of series parts with more dedicated parts, the Yamaha Worldcrosser is an impressive piece of equipment. At this stage though the Worldcrosser will remain a purely inspirational bike and won’t go into production although there’s no news if the additional components will be available aftermarket.

The KTM 125 Duke will have its official presentation today at the 2010 Intermot show, and here we can see preview pics of the production version of the KTM 125 prototype for 16-year-olds. Envious? We certainly are - to be 16 again! The new 125 Duke is the fruit of collaboration between KTM and Bajaj and the bike should appear right across Asia, South America and Europe. It could be a little saviour in a time of crisis, particularly on the European market.
The 125 Duke style is impeccable - modern and perfectly in proportion for a 125cc bike. The chassis is a tubular trellis housing a single cylinder engine which will be available in larger versions in the future, up to 350cc. The front of the bike would seem to come in two different versions and leaves us a little confused, although its designed to distinguish the sports Duke from the standard one. The sports Duke in fact has lower handle bars and a seat for one.
Another unusual design element is the choice of colours - black, green and purple - which seem more fitting for a 1990’s Honda than a 2011 125cc KTM naked. It looks like the company’s got the urban-enduro mix down pat though, and so we’ll wait for more high-res pics from today’s Intermot show.
