Ian Hutchinson ruled of 2011 TT

By Toni M.

3.16 mark

Ian Hutchinson who made history last year after winning five races at the TT, will be not able to compete in this year’s edition.

The Bingley Bullet is still fighting leg fitness after picking up a compound fracture to his left fibia and tibula when he was run over after crashing out in the first lap during the British Supersport Championship last September at Silverstone (check the video at the 3.16 mark to see the incident).

Despite undergoing 16 (!) operations and skin grafts and doctors have advised Hutchinson not to race at NW200 and TT to continue rehabilitation and think of fully recovering.

“I’m gutted not to be able to compete at the TT Races this year,”
said Hutchinson. I’ve done everything I could to be there but I’ve just run out of time. I have to listen to the advice of the surgeon and think of my long-term fitness. This has only made me more determined to get back on the bike and return to racing later this year. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank both Yamaha and Shaun Muir for being so supportive and I’m looking forward to the chance to repay them.”

Hutchinson will be appearing on the Isle of Man in the Arai Parade Lap with Moto GP legend Mick Doohan and MotoGP riders Nicky Hayden and Cal Crutchlow.

Nicky Hayden to ride parade lap in this year's Tourist Trophy

By Toni M.

nicky hayden

Following in the line of other MotoGP riders, as Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Loris Capirossi, this year it will be Nicky Hayden’s turn to ride a parade lap around the legendary Mountain Course in this year’s Tourist Trophy.

Hayden will visit the Isle of Man on June 8th, and will lap the circuit with five-time 2010 TT champion Ian Hutchinson and five-time Australian 500cc world champion Mick Doohan and will be on hand to present the trophy to the winner of the Monster Energy Supersport Race 2.

“I’m really looking forward to going to the Isle of Man. I’ve been to pretty much every kind of motorcycle race you can imagine - the Daytona 200, the Jerez MotoGP, the Anaheim Supercross, the Namur World Motocross - but I’ve never been to the Isle of Man or any other real street race. The TT is just one of those events that every race fan wants to see eventually.”
said Hayden.

There’s no news on which Ducati model he’ll be using for the parade lap.
