One of the highlight events in the WDW (World Ducati Week) at the Misano Adriatico circuit is the drag race between MotoGP riders against World Superbike riders, that will take place on Saturday June 23rd at 18:20 pm.
Two years ago, Noriyuki Haga won the ‘drag race’ by pipping Nicky Hayden and Troy Bayliss with everyone on Streetfighters, this time eight riders will face off on Ducati Diavel Carbon versions of the machines.
The eight riders will be MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi (who will in all likelihood be booed by hard core Ducati racing fans according to the rumors we’ve already been hearing) and Nicky Hayden,World Superbike riders Carlos Checa (Althea Ducati) Sylvain Guintoli and Jakub Smrz (Team Effenbert Liberty Racing), Niccolò Canepa (Red Devils Roma) and Lorenzo Zanetti (PATA Racing Team) and Ducati’s former World Superbike champion and image man/test rider Troy Bayliss.

Ducati announced that next year the World Ducati Week (WDW) will be held at the Misano circuit (which is bound to adopt Marco Simoncelli’s name) from the 21st until the 24th of June. The event took place for the first time in 1998 and it’s been growing in popularity since, attracting thousands of Ducati enthusiasts from every corner of the world.
The next edition will be the 7th one of the series. The previous one took place in 2010 in what can be considered now as the historic home of the event, the Misano circuit. Ducati official bikes and riders, shows, races, music, Ducati models coming from everywhere and plenty of Ducati maniacs are the main ingredients of the WDW, an event that will take over not only the circuit itself, but the entire Romagna Riviera for four days.
