The 2010 Vespa GTS 300 Super and GTS Supersport models have been presented at the Rome Motodays event. The new GTS Super is available in both 300cc and 125cc engine options, with electronic ignition. The GTS SuperSport comes with the 300cc engine option and includes sports style features. The famous Vespa steel frame shows off a new-look feature on the right-hand side with a horizontal grill that harks back to the Vespas of old.
A racing touch is also included with the front shock absorber painted red, making the GTS 300 Super recognisable. The sports style is continued in the aggressive front look, with a chrome grill and twin-tone alloy wheels. The original “SuperSport” logo is included on the Vespa, near the storage space and the classic Vespa logo appears at the front. The Vespa GTS SuperSport has a black seat with new sports look and new manufacturing technique which makes it more comfortable.
The Vespa GTS 300 Super and SuperSport models have four-stroke, four-valve, 278 cc engines with a maximum torque of 22.3 Nm at 5,000 rpm. They have 22 hp, making for a fast and powerful scooter equipped with disc brakes at front and rear and a 9.2-litre tank. See the elegant Vespa in the gallery below.

In a kind of slow food-style Vespa tour of the US, photographer Clay Enos is travelling from New York to Vancouver on a Vespa GTS 300 Super this summer. The purpose of the motorcycle tour is to take in the local scenes of the US, while indulging in local produce and following the Eat Well Guide to the US.
Clay Enos is a film photographer who often works with Zack Snyder, but has decided to have a long, not-so-lazy summer of touring the US on a scooter. He says:
My intent is to spend the Summer before working as the still-photographer on the next Zack Snyder film traveling on a Vespa GTS 300 Super between New York and Vancouver, BC. The basic idea is to rarely go more than 150 miles on any given day, eat and support organic, locally produced and harvested foods, pop into Apple stores and Vespa dealerships to give my existing photography presentation, and make new pictures and portraits that will be blogged and geo-tagged along the way using my Nikon. The emphasis is on moving slowly and engaging the country that exists away from the freeways. This framework is simple, spontaneous and privileges local authenticity and uniqueness rather than the constructed and cliché.

We recently got an email from Mike who wanted to know how the Vespa GTS 300 stacks up against the former model, the GT200. The big question was over price: is the GTS 300 worth the 2,000 dollars more?
Here’s a couple of points from our original post last year, on the launch of the Vespa GTS 300 super:
The Vespa GTS 300 Super is a more powerful Vespa that hasn’t been produced since 1946. It has been created to continue the elegant sporty lines seen on the legendary models of the Vespa GS 1955, the 90SS of ‘66, the 200 Rally of ‘72, the ET3 of ‘75 and the T5 of 1985.
Driven by a modern and powerful four valve liquid cooled engine and with electronic ignition, the GTS 300 Super distinguishes itself for the extraordinary elasticity and brilliancy of the engine and for the elegant lines of the best Vespa sporting tradition.
Did we mention we love Vespa? I want one, especially if it’s the GTS 300 Super. Anyway, in this strange little video, you can see that Vespa is not about big boys showing off. Vespa is about subtle Italian romance…
A new take on the Piaggio Vespa GTS 300 has been seen at Florence’s Pitti Uomo fashion show.
The Italia Independent group has put its stamp on this model, and you can check out all the details on Blog Dolce Vita.

As we had anticipated the new Vespa GTS 300 Super has been revealed and in addition to our little test run, below are some of the official details and photos. “A Vespa is a Vespa” - a timeless definition and the GTS 300 Super takes in hand once again the sporty tradition which has characterised the best years of the Vespa history.
And this in a golden moment for the Vespa brand: in a few years the production has more than doubled, passing the 50,000 mark that Vespa produced in 2004, 100,000 in 2006 and beyond 117,000 in 2007. All of which is testimony to the fascination still intact after 62 years of history and 145 different models.
Some details of the GTS 300 Super from the press release are available below, along with an extensive photo gallery.

After giving you the preview this morning, we came back from the presentation in Milan of the new Vespa GTS 300 Super and after scoring ourselves a little test - or better a quick spin. And we can safely say this is a very agile and powerful scooter: don’t tell anyone but we reached 120km/hr in just a moment.
We were also impressed by the braking system, decisive and precise. The see-sawing pistons are such a classic in the history of Vespa and they do their job fully. The 12 inch wheels really show off their agility in city traffic and all the accessories are of optimum quality: the white is truly beautiful, actually in a word: “sexy”. Following are some shots from the Milan show.
