Test Aprilia Scarabeo 200 i.e.

What should the ideal city scooter be like? We say agile, zippy, compact and practical. And we found all these qualities in our test of the Aprilia Scarabeo 200 ie. It is one of those scooters you can fall in love with straight away for its elengance and performance, which is truly spectacular for city riding. It’s part of the new Aprilia Scarabeo scooter range.

Compared to the previous model, it has a new look and direct injection, and the style is appreciated when you sit comfortably on the seat. The Scarabeo is the perfect size and everything is under control, especially given the well-designed instrument panel with its analogue-digital features.

A button on the handles allows you to scroll through the LCD functions, including the external temperature (with emergency ice warning) and battery charge. The plexiglas screen doesn’t give off any annoying reflections and is easy to read.

New Aprilia Scarabeo range: Piaggio Group sees sales increase for 2009

By Alison in: Scooters Aprilia Piaggio

Gamma Aprilia Scarabeo 2009

Aprilia has presented its new Scarabeo scooter range for 2009, with four new models: Scarabeo 300 Special, Scarabeo 125 i.e. and 200 i.e. and the Scarabeo 50 4Valvole. We’ve been testing the new models and will give you an insight into how these scooters run over the next couple of days.

The Scarabeo 300 Special is an elegant, sports scooter model that is totally new for the range. The Scarabeo 125 i.e. and 200 i.e. are the first “multi-mapped” scooters in the world and they are equipped with a new electronic ignition system. The Scarabeo 50 4Valvole has the great performance, but with reduced fuel consumption and emissions, of a four-stroke, four-valve 50cc engine.

With a new range of colours, Aprilia is proving that its Scarabeo range is one of the best around, with a number of options making for a complete offering. The release is part of the Piaggio Group’s expansion in Italy, with increases in the numbers of scooters on the road. Piaggio experienced a sales increase in the month of May, showing the scooter market, at least, is healthy.

The Piaggio Group has experienced overall growth across its range in May, compared to the same month last year, with increases of between 0.4 and 2.7 percent in the various scooter segments. The Piaggio, Vespa and Scarabeo ranges have had five different models declared to be in the Top Ten for the Italian market.

Aprila Scarabeo 300 Special

Scarabeo 300 S

The Aprilia Scarabeo 300 S is now prepared for the competitive high wheel scooter segment in the 300cc category. Aprilia has been smart to keep the unmistakable look of the Scarabeo, which has rendered it a retro icon in Italy. The Scarabeo was an instant classic and it now embarks on the 300cc version.

The new Aprilia scooter is in direct competition with the Honda SH 300, and it looks like it could get competitive as Aprilia has got excellent performance, agility and riding pleasure. This is topped off with some lovely design, including black wheels and lovely graphics.

Other features include great space and a lowered seat height at only 785 mm from the ground. The engine is a single-cylinder, four-valve, with electronic ignition and automatic transmission. This makes it comfortable and easy to use.
