Vintage motorcycles: post-war exhibition in Bologna

By Alison

Ducati d'epoca

For anyone interested in vintage motorcycles, if you can get to Bologna between November 2008 and May 2009, you will find an exhibition entitled “Moto bolognesi del Dopoguerra” or “Post-war Bolognan Motorcycles”, showing at the Museo del Patrimonio Industriale.

From November 14 to May 3, the exhibition looks at the difficult reconstruction period, and the important role of the motorcycle industry in the social and economic growth of the country. While cars were considere luxury vehicles, the motorcycle was the true means of transport for the populus.

More than 50 examples of motorcycles, motorised bicycles, engines, sidecars and three-wheeled vans will be shown, coming from a range of private and company collections. Each is accompanied by a multimedia kit illustrating the history of the manufacturers and the sports events of that period.

The exhibition is completed by a volume published by Giorgio Nada in Italian and English. Opening times are Tuesdays to Fridays 9 to 1pm, Saturdays 9 to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm, and Sundays 3pm to 6pm. Entrance is free.
