Everyone was pretty excited when it was announced that the WSBK Kawasaki team would wildcard at this weekend’s British Superbike triple-header at Brands Hatch and see if Tom Sykes could repeat his 2010 victory, but unfortunately Sykes has been ruled out after his injury (a possible cracked right ankle and a thoracic trauma) during last week’s WSBK Silverstone round.
With Sykes out of action, Paul Bird has called in World Supersport rider Broc Parkes as his replacement to be fielded alongside other Kawasaki rider Joan Lascorz. Parkes is currently fourth in the Supersport standings with the Kawasaki Motocard team and raced for the Kawasaki team in World Superbikes in 2009.
“I am pumped about racing this weekend with the Kawasaki team and it will be great working with all of the crew again,” said Parkes. “I haven’t ridden a Superbike for a while where I have been racing in the World Supersport Championship so I need to adapt again quickly but the Kawasaki has seen some big improvements since I last rode it so I am looking forward to it. The depth of field in BSB has definitely increased and it is going to be tougher than before I think; you can see how strong the competition is from what John Hopkins did last weekend as a wildcard at Silverstone. It is a great opportunity for me to race again at Brands Hatch and I need to thank Paul Bird and everyone at Kawasaki.”

Dry, wet, damp and wet again, the changing weather conditions at Portimao have hampered testing conditions in these last three days, and in the final test session of the Supersport series saw Broc Parkes hit the top of the timesheet with a best lap of .1’48″893.
Following Parkes was James Ellison who was a little more than nine tenths slower and Swedish rider Alexander Lundh taking third, while Roberto Tamburini was 4th and Gino Rea 5th.
World Supersport testing will now head to Phillip Island February 21st and 22nd, before the first round of 2011 kicks off.

It didn’t take Broc Parkes very long to find another ride to finish the season after leaving Echo CRS world superbike team. The Australian will be replacing the very heavily injured Joan Lascorz in the Kawasaki Provec Motocard WSS squad for the final three rounds of the World Supersport championship
Parkes is a six year veteran of the series with five wins and was two times runner-up in 2004 and 2007, and last week tested a Kawasaki ZX-6R at Almeria to get re-accustomed with the bike and here’s what he had to say after the test:
“I rode the bike recently at Almeria and despite the really hot track temperatures we got a lot of good work done and I had a chance to get used to riding the Ninja ZX-6R. I’m really excited about this opportunity to have a team of that calibre give me a chance to ride at the front again. I had a pole and a podium in Germany in 2008, but it is hard to predict how things will be until I get back on the track with the rest of the Supersport guys. I have ridden for most of my career in Europe in Supersport and because of that I have competed against most of the guys who are still racing at the front.”
If you’re wondering how Lascorz is after the horrific crash at Silverstone, we can tell you that he was transfered from the Coventry hospital and taken to the Clinica Universitaria Dexeus in Barcelona, Spain which was made possible by the Catalan RACC Federation.

Echo CRS Honda and Broc Parkes have decided to part ways before the end of this WSBK season. Parkes joined the Italian team when it made it’s WSBK debut this year after racing a season in the World Supersport championship.
Parkes was released from his contract this week and is looking for a new team to finish this season and find a ride for next year.
The 2010 season has been up hill for the Aussie rider. His debut with the Echo CRS team was postponed after he broke his right tibia in a pre-season motocross training incident and was able to return to racing only after three rounds and during his convalescence was replaced by Josh Brookes and Sheridan Morais.
At the moment there is no mention if Echo CRS Honda will be taking part in the final three rounds of the season with another rider.

Echo CRS team’s regular rider Broc Parkes is set to return to racing after missing the first three rounds of the World Superbike Championship due to a long convalescence after breaking his right tibia in a pre-season motocross training accident.
During the Australian round he was replaced by Josh Brookes and in Portimao and Valencia by Sheridan Morais and Parkes showed up at the Valencia round and you can hear how he injured himself and his long road to recovery from the video above.
“I am very happy that Broc visited us in Valencia.” said team manager Sandro Di Stefano. “I was delighted to see him in good condition. I could see that his desire to race is still the same, and now I’m eager to see him on-track at Assen. I am convinced that, as soon as his physical fitness is back to 100 per cent he can be a contender. I wish him from my heart a strong comeback, so that he can bring good results to the whole team.”
Parkes has been on Echo CRS team’s Honda CBR 1000RR only during the January tests at Portimao before being injured.

Echo CRS Honda has confirmed that Sheridan Morais will again sub for regular rider Broc Parkes, who is still out due to his pre-season training accident in this weekend’s WSBK Championship in Valencia
The South African rider already subbed for Parkes in the second round at Portimao finishing 17th in race 1 and DNF’d in race 2. Parkes is expected to return for the Assen round that is scheduled for April 25th.

Why wait for those official press releases from the teams, when riders keep their fans informed through Facebook and/or Twitter? Sheridan Morais has confirmed via his Facebook page that he’ll be subbing for Broc Parkes:
Sheridan Morais to be riding the CRS Honda in the World Superbikes for Rounds 2 & 3 in place of Broc Parkes!!!!
‘Shez’ Morais will be riding Echo-CRS team’s Honda CBR 1000RR March 28th in Portimao and April 11th at Valencia.

The lastest rumors have Sheridan Morais replacing injured Broc Parkes in the Echo CRS team in the Portimao race and probably also for the third round at Valencia. Parkes who fractured his right tibia during a pre-season training incident before the Phillip Island round could be back in time for Assen.
“Shez Show” Morais, a South African Superbike and Supersport champion who is currently racing an Aprilia in the South African Superbike championship has also raced in World Superbikes last year alongside replacing the injured Makoto Tamada on the Kawasaki in last year’s Kyalami and Magny-Cours rounds and a Supersport round at Brno.

Echo CRS Honda’s Broc Parkes, who missed the first round at Phillip Island after breaking his right tibia in a pre-season training accident, will also have to sit out the second round of the World Superbike championship at Portimao.
The Aussie rider is expected to return to full fitness for Valencia or at the latest the Assen round of the championship, which are scheduled for April 11th and 25th.
The team is currently looking for another replacement rider for to ride the CBR 1000RR at Portimao. Josh Brookes, HM Plant Honda rider who subbed for Parkes at Phillip Island took 19th in race 1 and 14th in race 2.

World Superbike team Echo CRS has decided to replace injured Broc Parkes for the opening round of the Championship at Phillip Island with Josh Brookes.
Brookes who currently rides for British Superbike team HM Plant Honda has already been given the okay from Honda, could also take part in the upcoming WSBK official tests that are scheduled this weekend, always at the Island.
If Parkes doesn’t regain full fitness in time for the second round at Portimao, team manager Sandro di Stefano could ask Brookes to take part in the Portugal race, as the British Superbike Championship kicks off only at the beginning of April at Brands Hatch.

Aussie rider Broc Parkes will miss the World Superbike season opener at Phillip Island after breaking the tibia of his right leg in a training accident.
Parkes who raced last year for PBM Kawasaki, was to debut with Echo CRS Honda who moved up to to Superbikes this year, will unfortunately be out of action for six weeks and the team is looking into a possible replacement to ride the CBR1000RR for the 1st round that is scheduled for February 28th. Parkes is hoping to be fit in time for the Portimao race that will be held on March 26th.
“I wish Broc all the best for an early recovery; we are waiting anxiously for his return,” declared team manager Sandro Di Stefano. “Now he has to concentrate on getting back into the best condition as soon as possible. This is a false start for us and it complicates our debut. Superbike is a difficult category, where every minor detail must be taken care of. Things like this confirm how much the human factor is one of the elements that can occasionally slip out of control”.

Sandro Di Stefano’s Varese based Echo CRS Honda team will be moving up from World Supersport class to debut next year in World Superbikes and have signed former WSBK Kawasaki factory rider, Broc Parkes. The team will be running ex-Stiggy Honda CBR1000RR’s.
Parkes, a protégé of former world champion Wayne Gardner, finished 18th in the 2009 WSBK standings with the PBM Kawasaki team.
