By Alison in: Tuning Triumph

Triumph T Clubman 860R Special

German company Krefelder LSL is particularly specialised in tuning Triumphs and has created a new cafè racer called T Clubman 860R based on the Triumph Thruxton. Updates have been made to the paint work, handle bars, lights, and wheels (17-inch spokes).

The front suspension has been modified, along with the braking system, which adopts new Nissin calipers at the rear. The engine has been updated, with work on the compression, distribution and the exhaust. The T Clubman 860R now reaches 76hp at 6,800 rpm with torque of 88Nm at 5,800 rpm.

The bike now weighs 220kg and prices available for the tuning are available from Krefelder LSL. For more information, check their site.

Yutaka Igarashi concept bikes gallery

Yutaka Igarashi concept bikes

Anyone who loves Japanese Manga design is sure to appreciate these 3D computer graphics from Yutaka Igarashi

In 2008 Yutaka created two unique concept bikes: a cafè racer and an electric riderless racing bike. We’ve already showed you the robot bike and its simple but innovative design. In this further gallery you can also see other Yutaka Igarashi concepts.

The aim for the robot bike of beating a MotoGP lap time is always going to be a challenging task, but never say never! These prototypes have some impressive technical solutions, that while original now, might one day appear on our own road motorcycles.

A look at the JJ2S X4 500

By Alison in: Engineering

La Moto polacca con il motore stellare

We had already checked out the JJ2S X4 500, but now Ottonero Blog Sport has published the latest look at this model, and it seems that the JJ2S X4 500 leaves its mark in terms of useless eccentricity. Apart from that, this is a bike from Poland, with a four cylinder engine that you would normally see on board aeroplanes from the first world war.

The Cafè Racer style can be appreciated but it does appear that this is a solution that will remain a prototype as the star-shaped motor placed in a longitudinal position will result in a high centre of gravity at the rear of the bike: this leads us to doubts on the dynamic quality of the bike.

The chassis is a lattice frame, with spoked wheels and minimal dimensions in supersport style complete the picture. We like the look of the bike, but think it’s more adapted to a modern art museum than a dealership’s floor. The four aspiration inlets in full view and the lack of any throttle opening make us wonder whether this bike could ever see production, in addition to small radiator for a four cylinder, 500cc.

We appreciate the exercise in style as this bike doesn’t appear like it will ever really see the road - at least for now. Have a look at the pics and let us know what you think.

Triumph next generation Triple

By Alison in: Superbikes/Replica Triumph

Disegni di Oberdan Bezzi della futura Triple SBK

Oberdan Bezzi is teasing our imagination again with a rendering of the much-anticipated Triumph Superbike.

The Triumph Triple Superbike render shows the future supersports Triumph with a possible new, compact three cylinder engine. The frame should be in alluminium, similar to that of the 675, with next generation suspension.

The Italian designer has also given attention to the other details, including the chain and exhaust whose various modifications could result in anything from a pure racing motorcycle, to a cafè racer or a naked in the style of a Ducati Streetfighter.

Aprilia Mana X new photos

By Alison in: Aprilia

Aprilia Mana X

Aprilia has released some new shots of its Mana X concept revealed at the Eicma show in Milan.

The Mana X is a concept motorcycle that is automatic and runs off a twin cylinder engine at 850cc, V at 90°. It’s the same engine as the Mana 850 with electronic Sportgear transmission and steel tubular trellis chassis. The Mana X is definitely a unique example in its sector.

The Cafè special has an entirely new layout with brand new rear suspension and generous tyres. While it’s unlikely we’ll see this in production, never say never…

Eicma 2008: Aprilia Mana X concept

By Alison in: Meets/Events Aprilia

Eicma 2008 Aprilia Mana X

Aprilia has presented its Mana X concept at the Eicma show in Milan, a project based on the Mana and therefore equipped with a twin cylinder 850cc V engine at 90°, with electronic sportgear transmission and tubular trellis chassis.

The Aprilia Mana X, as seen in this Eicma gallery is a special automatic, presented in a new configuration for the Noale company. The new rear suspension linked to the tyres makes this almost a cafè racer or a scrambler.

Being a concept vehicle at this stage there is no news on eventual production. But never say never.

By Alison in: Tourism

Novità Buell 2009, Cafè Racer 1125

Here’s the new, amazing Buell 1125 CR, twin cylinder weapon from Erik Buell, defined as the “the vision of a cafè racer of the 21st century”.

It is equipped with a Helicon V 72° engine, with 164 hp at 9,800 revs/min and 11Nm of torque. It weighs 170 kg, with a wheel base of 1389 mm, longer fork and shortened six speed transmission. Electronic ignition guarantees greater response in acceleration, clutch and the pressured 12 litre airbox. Available in two stand-out colours including red and black, the Buell sells for around 12,190 euros.

In addition to improvements in the engine, the 2009 1125 R should also see some new design, in Arctic White with lovely blue wheels and plexiglass.
