Karel Abraham and Cardion AB reveal 2012 Ducati GP livery

By Toni M.

Cardion AB 2012 MotoGP team party

After revealing certain aspects of the Ducati GP12 (take it with a grain of salt because this isn’t the version that the Ducati factory team will be using) Cardion AB racing team held a big party (and what a party judging by the images) in Prague to present their 2012 livery.

This will the second year in GP racing for the Czech team who will continue to field Karel Abraham, who despite misgivings from fans at the beginning of last season (a rookie who was in MotoGP thanks to daddy’s money) was pretty impressive, often beating the Ducati factory riders in practice and qualifying sessions and also beating several veteran riders in the final standings.

“In 2011 I learned a lot,”
said Abraham. “We managed to get good results in several rounds, we struggled in others. Our main problem has been race consistency and find a good set-up: in practice we were often able to obtain a good position on the grid, but we weren’t good enough to repeat in during the races. With another year of experience we hope to do it this season. “

Talking about the GP12 he also added, “I’ve already tried the new bike at Valencia, but Sepang will be our first true test with the GP12. I imagine there will be a lot of work to do, but I am ready. “

Cardion AB MotoGP team reveals some details on the GP12

By Toni M.

The Ducati GP12 didn’t make an appearance at the Wrooom event and the three-day private test at Jerez was kept on lockdown, but Czech based team Cardion AB has issued a press release regarding the satellite Ducati that Karel Abraham will be using this season that gives some details of the GP12, some of which Ducati may have wanted to keep under wraps until the Sepang test when the GP12 officially debuts.

The press release indicates the differences from last year’s GP11 and this year’s bike: last year’s 800cc bike produced 235hp and this year’s will be have a 999cc engine that will produce 250hp with a top speed of 360 km/h (speed is something that Ducati has never lacked) and stresses that the aluminium frame is Ducati (and not designed and built by FTR as everyone has been saying).

Filippo Preziosi has already mentioned that the satellite teams will be using a slightly modified version of GP0, the machine that Valentino Rossi tested at Valencia, while we know that factory riders Rossi and Nicky Hayden will be getting a completely revolutionized bike.

Moto 2: Cardion AB drops RSV Chassis for FTR

By Toni M.

Moto2 Cardion AB Motoracing team like the Mapfre Aspar team has decided to drop the Italian RSV chassis in favour of another chassis supplier after just two rounds

While Aspar’s Moto2 team opted for the popular Suter frame after complaining that RSV was not following up on development and that his riders Julian Simon and Mike Di Meglio were having problems adjusting to the heavy frame, Cardion AB has gone towards the British built FTR chassis after rider Karel Abraham complained of set-up and aerodynamics with the RSV Motor DR 600 M2.

The switch to British manufacturer was probably based on the support and devlopment package that FTR offers compared to the RSV and the good results that Alex Debon has had so far while using the British made frame.

Since Cardion AB’s FTR may not be ready in time for this weekend’s round at Le Mans, Abraham may have to use his current RSV bike.

We expect that as the season goes on and judging the highly competitive racing that’s in Moto2, we’ll be seeing other chassis switch overs with teams trying to find the best technical edge possibile.

Moto2 – RSV Motors chosen by Cardion AB Team, Team Aspar leaning towards same choice

By Toni M.

RSV Moto2

After Aprilia’s late decision to pullout from Moto2 that left several teams without a bike to use and needing to find last minute replacements, the Cardion AB Motoracing team that will line up Karel Abraham as their rider has decided to contest the new championship 2010 with Riccardo Drisaldi’s RSV Motor DR 600 M2.

Spanish manager Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez according to Spanish websiteAS, after testing five different bikes during the Valencia tests in December has narrowed down his choice for his Moto2 team between the German made Kalex and the RSV for World Champions Mike Di Meglio (2008) and Julian Simon (2009).

Martinez told AS : The decision will depend on the technical conditions, and Kalex has their close association with the Pons team going against them,” Martinez explained. “In contrast, RSV is just a manufacturer who can get fully involved with our team.”
