Jay Leno’s customised Star VMAX motorcycle will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction, with proceeds going to the Bailey’s Café charity, a community program bringing art education to some of New York’s toughest neighbourhoods.
The auction will take place in Las Vegas, and the brand new VMAX should fetch a good price, having just been re-designed by custom bike builder Jeff Palhegyi. He had just one week to redesign it with the only instructions from Jay Leno being: “this bike’s going to be bought by an enthusiast, so make sure to keep it rideable.”
The bidding range is not known, though the charity is hoping to achieve their 100,000 dollar goal. We figure that the sale of the bike, along with a few other bits and pieces will probably achieve that.

New traffic regulations have been enacted in the Italian town of Tavullia. Tavullia is a small town, 30km from Rimini, the place to be if you like night life and a beach holiday, and 12 km from the International racetrack of Misano. Tavullia is also hometown for MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi.
Valentino Rossi is like so many other riders and teams involved with charity. Yesterday he donated the fabulous amount of 650.000 euros to use for the renovation from the local cemetery in his hometown. To honour Valentino, they changed the speed limits from 50 km/h to 46 km/h, like Rossi’s magical bike number in MotoGP.

The motorcycling world often helps out in charity causes, as seen in Shane Byrne’s charity project to raise money for Mcmillan Cancer Support. The British Superbike Champion’s helmet was recently auctioned on ebay. Shane said: “I suffered a big loss in my life because of cancer. I hope that the money raised from the auction of this helmet can go some way, however big or small, towards helping others similarly affected whilst also highlighting the great work carried out by the people at Macmillan Cancer Support.”
It’s great to know that the motorcyclingworld and even riders are continuing these fund raising initiatives for charities in these difficult times.

The international company 3M is concerned about social projects, education and environment. For this reason,it’s started a new initiative in the Netherlands called “3M funds”. The fund has two major goals. Firstly to support charity work or projects by their own 3M personnel by giving 3M products to the project or work. And second to give the large amount of 50.000 euro for a project that has been nominated.
One of the project is the Dutch project called “racen tegen kanker” or in English “racing against cancer”. This project is based on helping family’s who have a child with cancer. One of their projects is the organisation of a four-day holiday for 50 families with their sick children in Germany. You can find more information about “racing against cancer” on their website or you could meet them at a racing event!
