WSBK Portimao - Craig Jones Statue Unveiled
The owner of Autodromo do Parkalgar circuit in Portimao Paulo Pinheiro, unveiled a statue at the entrance of the circuit to pay tribute to Craig Jones. The track already bears a corner dedicated to the English rider.
Jones, who raced for circuit owners Parkalgar Honda, lost his life in an accident during the World Supersport round at Brands Hatch last season .
The provisional statue will be replaced by one in stone in the future.
Remembering Craig Jones
Since this is going to be the last post of the day, we thought that it would be fitting to remember late World Supersport rider Craig Jones with this video tribute.
Jones died from head injuries after a crash in last year’s WSP race at Brands Hatch.

Here’s what Jones had to say after hitting 238 km/h (148 mph):
“I firmly believe that your head is the biggest limiting factor in pushing to the edge. The less you think about the risks, the further you can push yourself. So I kept it simple. I just put the bike into gear, tucked down and went as fast as I could.”
Algarve Motorpark to dedicate corner to Craig Jones
Nothing will ever change, and nothing will certainly bring back the life of young Craig Jones after his tragic death, but it always helps when memories are evoked for years to come. The new circuit being built in Portugal, the Algarve Motorpark, will have a corner named after Craig Jones in a humble gesture of remembrance.
The terrible day of last weekend that marks the death of Craig will be remembered next year in November when the World Championship will arrive at the new Portimao track. Rest in peace Craig.

Supersport in mourning after the death of Craig Jones
The motorcycle world is still coming to terms with the death of Craig Jones at 23 years old, after the terrible accident at Brands Hatch on the weekend.
It’s difficult to put into words how the community feels when a young life disappears doing something that was loved. And we wonder about what made him so different from us that he should die when we all have a passion for motorcycles.
